I gave a 2000 gase1 my tranny is beginning to slip i was wandering if it would be worth getting it built up or just buying a stock reman.

Does it slip under hard acceleration or just normal acceleration? Mines slips kinda wierd, sometimes under hard acceleration it will shift perfectly, but most times it kinda slips a bit. Normal acceleration it shifts perfectly, although my shift has been modified slighly, the shift firmness has been changed.

I'd go stock with a shift kit

Ray, I believe those kits are for RWD only.... in a '00 with a 2.4 he should have a 4t40e tranny.... so, I would say go for the 4t45e tranny or better.... I want to put a 4t60e in mine.

usually mine starts to slip when its time for a tranny fluid change. id have that checked out. they recommend that you have the tranny fluid changed every 60k miles (i think, or was that 30k).

rip that automatic crap out and put in the stick shift

Do you want to drive your car or have your car drive you?

well i like the stick conversion.....but not everyone can drive a manual.

with that being said i would take the current tranny in it and take it to a reputable tranny builder and ask him his opinion. if he's good at what he does he should be able to build it to be stronger than any stock tranny you can find. just tell him upfront of your intentions with the car and let him work his magic.

that's what i've done with my 700R in my truck and it's pretty mean.

i tried that but if you take a front wheel drive Grand Am and tell any tranny shop aroung here to make it stronger they just look at you funny, start laughing, and tell you to go get a real car

my goal is to be able to beat our local tranny guys Olds. 442 just to see him cry
