I know there are many exhausts posts and there is even a exhaust section but THEY ARE MOSTLY ABOUT 3.4L I know some guys or gals may get upset by me posting this but I have been a member for a while and i want to know a good complete exhaust(header, cat , piping, mufflers) to put on my 97 GT its a 5 spd and i would just love to make it sound and exhale a little bit better. I know one guy put a flow model 80 (bad idea) it sounded horrible I dont want it to sound well you know 'Japanese' =-o I want it to be nice aggressive sound through all the gears (burnouts) so any real world ideas would be great. And i know the Stock tips are welded to the stock mufflers but if possible could I keep them as i think they look great with the body i have on it now I see a lot of mufflers with 108mm tips and that in my mind is too "japanese"

well most people would say 2.25-2.5inch pipe size for this motor. Your going to want to buy about a 18inch resinator or larger to keep the exhuast quiet, then theres all kinds of mufflers out there you can get from borla, to magnaflow, to edelbrock. Carsound is probably the most common or well known high flow cat, which is basicly the same company as magnaflow. For s header your stuck since no company at this point makes one for our bodystyle, but www.the-race-shop.com will be making a header for around $400 or so. I cant tell you about sound, b/c i really dont know what you want in that area, someone might say oh this setup sounds so good, and you might here it and think it sounds like crap.
