quick question about engines

I need to find out for my buddy, Will all the parts from rsm (manifolds, throttle body ect) for the 3100, fit the multiport fuel injection 3.1 thats found on a 94 Z24.(ODB1 if it matters)

This kid bugs me everyday about his car stuff. He thinks he can make a 250 hp engine with the mfi 3100...i dont think he can N/A.Not without heavy internal work.

no you cant.. all the ports were changed in the 3100 engine.. so the upper and lower intake wont fit unless you replaced the heads,headers,upper and lower intake but as for the TB i cant confirm if it would bolt up. But as for 250 hp NA with out a rebuild... wont happen... he maybe one of those people that think putting in a platinum spark plug gets 10 hp.. a new exaust is 30 hp.. ecm chip 20 hp.. new plug wires.. another 15... trust me it dont work that .. he cant do it unless real work is done

you can make a hybrid with the mpfi bottom end and sfi top end, but it's not at all "bolt on." the only real advantage to over an engine swap is the cam options his mpfi. he'd need to swap heads in order to bolt on the manifolds, because the bolt holes are in different places, and IIRC have custom length pushrods machined. the TB for a 3100/3400 won't bolt up to a 2.8l/3.1l plenum.

please call the mpfi motor 3.1 and the 94-up sfi motor 3100 so we don't get confused ok? =D ... because a 3100, you can bolt up all the 3400 stuff, and if we ever got headers, you might even be able to get close to 250hp NA out of one without headwork! with the 3.1, though, it'd take boring out to 3.2l, a cam, headers, the whole hybrid top end, I/E/UDP, a chip, and probably still not be at 250. over 200 sure, but probably not 250.
