Alright, i think the time has finally come when my '95 GAGT has finally pissed me off one time too many.
Dont get me wrong, I liked the car a lot...when it wasnt broken. Considering that a head gasket fix costs about $700, when coupled with the other things that are wrong, it simply doesn't make sense to sink any more cash into the car.
The short list:
Tranny grinding in foward gears only
Driver's power window doesnt work
Water leak from under the dash somewhere
Between the transmission and the gasket, the cost of repair would far exceed what the car is probably worth with 184K miles in the clock.
Im sad to say, but this is probably going to be my last post at the GAOC, as I plan on getting rid of the car in a matter of days. Since my wife and I have recently had a kid, the 2 door was a hassle anyhow. We're looking at the new Cobalt or a Nissan Altima.
I wish everyone well, and good luck.

That sucks about the car. Hopefully everything works out for ya. You don't have to disappear forever though. Come back and check in once in a while...Get some pics of that new ride. :)

:agree: No need to leave just because the GA is gone. You're always welcome here. :D

Here's the story:
Two days ago (day after I made my inital post) the wife and I decided to go look for our next car. On the way to the Nissan dealership, the car quit running. I managed to get it started a few times to get closer, but eventually it just died and I couldn't restart it.
I called the salesman my brother had just bought a car from, and the one I was negotiating with for several weeks on a new Frontier, and he came and picked us up.
Long story short, we bought a new SE-R Spec V. After all the paper-signing and crap, we told the salesman we needed to get the carseat out and our stuff out of the trunk. He follows us down there and we get out our crap. He walks inside to pay for our tank of gas in the new car, and I look at the wife and say "I wanna fire the old girl up just one last time"
I put in the key and crank her up. Almost immediately, it threw a rod. The salesman walks outside and sees what happened and starts laughing. Obviously, I was afraid b/c we used it for a trade-in. He says they were just gonna sell it at auction anyhow and he doesnt care.
So we get our stuff and drive off.
I'm just thankful we were almost at the dealership when old faithful decided to give up the ghost. I honestly really liked my old '95 GT and I already sorta miss her (but I CERTAINLY dont miss all the problems she had). It was hard to drive off and leave her stranded on the side of the road like that, but after a few days with the new Spec V I can honestly say that the Sentra would have smoked my GA even in its best days.
Anyhow, I'll be back now and then to see what's new and tell everyone hi.
Take care.

So far the Spec V is great...but I cant help but miss my GrandAm. It's weird how you can get attatched to an object like that. I really honestly miss that old girl.....she was a faithful and really fun ride.
I guess every horse has its day though, and mine decided it was time to give up the chase.
