I have a '98 Ford Ranger and the front drivers side tire area is squeaking pretty loud when going between 10-20 mph. We recently got the tires rotated and they have been rubbing on the inside while they were on the front. So we figured it prob. needs aligned, but what is causing the squeak all of a sudden? When I start the truck, you have to go about 3-4 blocks before it'll even start to squeak...very strange. Any insight would be helpful.

I may be way off, but because it takes a few blocks for the sound to start. I'm thinking about wheel bearing. When you start out the bearings are cold so no sound, but as you drive they warm up and start to make a noise.

The quick way to check would be to drive a couple miles, get out and put your hand down near the center of the wheel. Feel for heat. If it is cold to the touch.....I'm most likely wrong.

It is also possible that the brake pads rub a little, again causing heat after some rubbing. Best way to check that is to look at both sides of the rotor. The front you can see by just looking may look fine, it's the back side I'm wondering about.

Sorry I can't think of much else.

Thanks for the reply! Called the mechanic shop and they said the same thing. So, those 2 things that could be wrong, can we still haul a trailer full of wood bundles safely for memorial day? Since no one is open till Tuesday. Plus we are gonna get it alligned which is 32.95 US dollars and they said if it takes something called camatolocs then it'd be 35.00 each or something, I told him if that is the case we can't afford nothing to be done to it.
