I am having problems with the seats of my '02 Grand Am. The seats come up if you are not sitting back against them. They aren't clicking back in place, and the passenger seat doesnt click back at all, so if you put on the breaks too fast the whole seat flies forward. I don't know what happened to them, or even where to begin to try to fix them. They are totally annoying, and I need to get them fixed asap, so if anyone knows of any ideas I could use them! Thanks!:???:

I assume your car is a two door. The 4 door seats don't flop up.
In these cars is the seat controlled by the door? I know on some cars when you open the door the seats unlock.

I not sure but i think there might be a service bulletin about that iirc . If you talk nicely to the service advisor at the dealership they may fix it for you . ;)

Yes, the car is a 2 door. I am not sure, but I am thinking that the seats have nothing to do with the doors. It doesn't matter if the doors are closed or if they are open, they don't lock back in place. But thanks for the tip.

Okay, well I suppose if don't get any more replies back here soon, then I will just resort taking it in to a dealership to see what's the matter, thanks!

I have the same trouble with my passenger seat. If you slide it back quickly it will lock and then function properly for a while. Then it will decide to unlock itself and do it again. I've looked under the seat while we were messing with it and it seems that the bar only moves one latch, not two.

Well I have tried to do that before, and it still won't click into place. Not only does the seat back come forward, but entire seat will move back and forwarth.

My seat back is locked fine, the entire seat moves. You just have to firmly slide it back and it should lock, but not permanently. The next time I've gotten in it has become loose. It seems that something keeps the bar from going down to lock, but its hard to see anything under it to know what is stuck. When mine is stuck the bar seems to be stuck "up". My dad and I were trying to find the problem, and when the bar would move you could see that something on the left side was stuck. That is, if its the same thing on both sides.
Please let us know a way this can be fixed.

Yeah my '90 Regal GS was the same. The seats never locked.
It's probably just the locking mechanism that's busted
