Just as the topic title says....my reverse lights on my 01 GA are filling with water. I hadn't noticed it, until some guy behind me was good enough to point it out. What causes this? How can I stop it from happening again? Can this cause a major problem, such as shorting? How do I drain the water?
BTW. When I was looking at the reverse lights, I decided to check the trunk. There was also water, where my spare tire goes. Any ideas/solutions appreciated.

PS. We have had an incredible amount of rain in my area over the last two weeks. So much rain that we have set a few records.

The reverse lamp housings are held in with two tin nuts. Take the nuts off, remove the bulbs and the housing will slide out of the bumper. Dry them out, put them back in and seal the inside opening to keep water from splashing in from the tires.

What would you suggest I use to seal them. I was thinking silicone, but wouldn't that make it very difficult to remove them in the future? Just asking because I haven't looked under the bumper yet..... So I don't even know what they look like.
BTW. Any idea as to why the truck is getting wet? The seal seems fine to me.

EDIT: Ok, I pulled the reverse lights. (very easy) I dried them with a hair dryer, and cleaned them. I used vasoline to seal the lights. It probably won't last, but it was a quik fix.
Thanks for the help.

ps. I'm still not sure as to why my trunk is getting water in it. I'll pull it apart very soon.
Again...Thanks for the instructions. I could have figured it out, but a little instruction never hurts if ya don't know what you are in for.:D

You could use duct tape and/or plastic to cover the hole back where the bolts are. That should keep the spray away from the lamp housing.

Yeah....Maybe I'll give that a shot.
