Front Struts

The repair shop quoted me $235 for 2 front struts and front end alignment,my question is this something a person with average knoweledge of an automobile can fix themselves,and is the front end alignment nessasary when replacing the struts.

If you've done it before then yeah it's no trouble, but if you haven't or aren't familiar with them I would just suggest having the shop do it.

You would have to rent a spring compressor and probably have an extra set of hands to help put them on. They can go flying if not done properly and can cause injury (like most things though). An alignment must be done, otherwise the front end may not be straight. If the back is ok then it shouldn't cost too much to just do the front for an alignment.
