Ok guys I've talked to Ty over at Domestic Performance and can get us his 65mm Billet Throttle Body for $320 before shipping core or options. Thats $55 off not bad. but we need 10 orders ready to confirm then pay 1/2 the price up front and send in the cores and pay the rest. There are options on the site too. Let me know who is interested ASAP as I am planning on getting one soon. If I can get at least 5 people soon I will ask him to put up a link just for us.Product Link (http://www.domesticperformance.com/product_info.php?products_id=462&osCsid=04567073c3d120a8e9950dc2ac10c6f0)

Umm, does someone want to tell me what exactly a "group buy" is, and how much would i have to pay to get one?

03GASE3400
06-10-2005, 12:32 PM
A group buy is when a company agrees to give a lower price but only if a certain number of people buy the item. So in this case if we get 10 people (the group) to buy the billet throtle body then we will get it for $320 instead of the normal $400 (the buy). So baisically once 10 people put their names on the list then we all pay 1/2 upfront so $160 and then send in a core throtle body and the rest of the payment and once he changes over everything from the old TB to the new one he'll ship to us.

No it’s the new bigger G6 Tb inside the billet unit.

Good idea though I will get a stock Tb and cram the whole thing in there..lol

The G6 Tb has an outside diameter around 70mm.

so we would have to send our stock tb in before we recieve the aftermarket? How would that work out for the daily drivers?

03GASE3400- Think you could get a group buy on the borla exaust at Domestic Performance too?

Those are good questions. Ty, I think maybe those are better suited for you. I was just going to go to the junk yard and get a core, or how hard is it to take everything off the stock and swap it ourselves?

speedyguy

Ok to fit the core billet units with the stock core parts we need to swap in new bearings mark the stock shaft to be notched to match the new diameter, and attach the new brass throttle plate. There is more but to notch the stock throttle shaft and mount the new bearings requires some knowledge and there is a chance to ruin the unit. I prefer to avoid you ruining the unit. That said if the person is comfortable then we can offer the option to assemble it yourself with no responsibility for the outcome.

Buying a core from a junkyard is a cheap way to avoid having to send your actual core from your car. We have access to good cores but we have to charge more than you can buy them for so we always suggest you get your own core and double check you have the exact right core against the unit in your car.

Other group buy options.??

Our site is under major construction and along with much of our new product still underway we will only do further Group buys if our warehouse will do most of the work. I will talk with them asap and let you know.

Just a note:

Yes this is the only site we will offer this option on and this is the only time we will offer a group buy on this product.

Ty Would it work out if you used your core, I paid for that, then got a rebate afterwards when I removed my tb and returned my stock?

Yes our core option is $60.00. It is refundable once we get a working unit. If the core we get in return is of good quality then the full refund will be made. We try and avoid this option because there is always a chance for damage during transit and speculation on both ends when it comes to what quality is.

I am a very reasonable person so I am sure it wont be an problem.

Overbore

I wanted to be clear with some who may be interested in this item that it is a one-time offer because of the interest of the person who made this thread. I also wanted to be clear as to what exactly a 65mm throttle body will do for you.

All 99-2004 N body cars will notice a better throttle response. Such as advertised with the 62mm throttle bodies. With a port match of your Upper intake manifold there will be no notable torque loss but HP gains in the higher rpms. Especially noticeable if your car is tuned for the mod after it is installed. A stock computer cannot use this mod to even half of its capable gain.

The biggest gains from this type of setup are found when the engine has been modified to need / take on more air. Remember your engine is basically a balanced air pump. You computer set up is a very major part of this gain; this engine only begins to gain power at the point your stock computer cuts it off. It’s at these high rpm’s that the bigger hp gains are found on this engine. Yes a balanced engine with a proper setup can find substantial gains, but the point of this unit is to take the high rpm engine much further than it was capable before. The other point was to give the new 3.5l upper intake manifold a seamless cross over to the 3.4l. This means no adapters to buy, no ford throttle body to mess with, just bolt it on and it will work with your stock set up and a 3.5l upper intake manifold. There are spacers coming for the 3.5l upper intake manifold that will add a bit of torque to the 3.5l upper intake manifold but these really are dependant on interest in the bigger flowing 3.5l Upper intake manifold.

Oh and it looks cool.

So if the engine has been overbore or the heads reworked or if you added a substantial poweradder like a turbo or a serious sc then this will help to use more of the gain potential from these modifications.

In short opening up the throttle body gives the other modifications a chance to work to there fullest.

Any questions regarding this item are welcome.

I asked about this awhile ago and Ty told me that they don't have a physical store we could shop at although I'm assuming he wouldn't mind letting locals pick up.

Only thing is, is that you're up in NorCal. His places are down near Fresno I think...

That's not too bad, fresno's about 2h 45min away. Any major performance mods would probably be worth the drive, especially if it's heavy (like modified tranny) cause shipping would probably be killer even in state
