First not to be mean but this is a Problems and solutions thread and this should not be posted here. And to answer the question the RAM air hood is just the hood. If youwant the RAM air (it does nothing) you need to take the stuff off the GT.
RAM air is just a selling ploy for cars and it really dosent do much of any thing because in order to get the full effect you would need to be going over 150MPH (if i remember correctly). You better off getting the hood just for cooler air into the box but a cold air system would be better and the hood would be for looks.

^ if you think it does prove it. There is a math equation behind it it really dosent sure it will "give you cooler air" but its not going to do a whole lot, its a marketing ploy. In order to do what ram air is suposed to do you need to be going above 150mph or some mph). Its proven, and i have read up on it.

... so if it doesn't add 20 or 30 HP, it doesn't work?! ... c'mon bud, it is a matter of degrees regarding how much it works :) ... is it going to work as well as the 'straight through' version like on the T/A, of course not ... is it going to work as well as a CAI, of course not once again ... BUT, it does add 'some increase in performance' compared to not having it at all and I don't need to use a formula in order to prove it (yes, I am capable of doing it and have proven it "by the numbers" in the past) as I have taken a bone stock SE without RAM-AIR and added it to the conclusion that it ran better and stronger ... no, it doesn't throw you in the back seat with the increase but I would suspect it gained an easy 2 or 3 HP (no dyno results to test such a trivial addition but my experience can make an educated guess :D) ... sorry, this is just a Pet Peeve of mine as I have stated in another thread recently.

I never said it wouldnt add a gain but the fact is its not really worth it. Id rather just put the hood on and put a CIA on then put Functional ram air in unless it was right there like the trans am. But what im saying is to get the full effect of ram air the speed you would need would be above 150mph to gain 1lb of boost due to "Raming air".

Anyway, the problem is you are confusing theory of 'true' ram air and the RAMAIR that Pontiac uses ... while the increase of incoming air is due somewhat to it being forced through the scoop assembly, the majority of the difference between having RAMAIR and not having it is simply the extra air volume you get regardless if the car is being idled or driven ... consider the standard 'single inlet air box' on a SE compared to the 'dual inlet air box' with the RAMAIR and you'll see what I mean.

No matter, the end result is RAMAIR does work but like I mentioned earlier it is just a matter of degrees and how well it works compared to other forms or induction ... there is no question a CAI works superior or the less restrictive 'straight through' version work better than the Grand Am style, but, to say it doesn't work at all if completely wrong :)
