well i will finally being doing/starting the 3400 swap in the next few days. i was wondering where or how to flash the pcm to take advantage of the extra power. i heard that i need to chip it, is this true? thanks.

The 3400 will run perfect with the 3100 PCM. But just like any other major upgrade, getting the PCM tuned will help. Since your displace ment is raised, and the PCM isn't adjusted for it.

you can't "chip it," but you can have it reflashed. i'd email DHP with your plans and see what they can do for you.
without reprogramming, you might want to use you old injectors so you don't run too rich; your 3100 ECM is going to expect smaller ones. the people i know with the swap done are all 1996 or earlier and don't have the option of a reflash, so they've stuck with their old injectors, so they can pass emissions. ( what about you korbendallas? which injectors are you using? )
besides that point, i doubt you'd see the full potential of the new engine running on 3100 specs anyway - i.e. it won't put out the full 175-180hp it's rated at.. i haven't seen anyone dyno the 3400 on an older ECM yet, just a guess.
