Hi, I have a 2004 GA GT with the v6 motor, I was wonderning if my temp gauge reading is normal...
it will sit straight up on 200, and 1 mark to the right. Is this normal?
Also, should the fans come on after the car is turned off? I bought this used, and had it almost a month, but I have never heard the fans come on, unless there really quite... I know other cars you can hear them, but not mine...
also, about what MPG you guys getting? My last check I got 30.x mpg, and it wasn't highway...I'm a little amazed that it got this high...

mine was about that too. thats normal
you can drop a 180 Thermostat to bring it down if you want

The operating temp on todays engines is quite high , 200 + is normal . The fans won't come on till it gets a bit hotter , 220 + or when you turn your AC on . You could put in a 180 thermostat , but the fans will still come on at the same temp ( like when your stuck in traffic and not moving ) The only way to change that is to reprogram the ecm , like with a DHP unit .....

That's fine, I just wanted to make sure there wasn't a problem...
thanks...

instead of starting a new thread.. since this is relative...
would putting colder air into the engine work just as well as a 180 thermostat? or would something like that require a reprogram?
well ok maybe it's not so relative... or whatever...

This won't keep the engine temp any cooler , but will add a bit of power as cold air is denser and contains more oxygen , which in turn can burn more fuel to produce more power . Common ways to reduce engine temp are a cooler thermosat , turning on the fans sooner , bigger rads etc ...
