I have a '04 GT v6, the owners manuel says you don't need to change the trans fluid, unless it's driving in the listed conditions, mines not, but I don't like the ideal of not changing the tranny fluid. I only have 21,000 on it now, but would like to change it when it hits 40,-50,. But how? dose it have a dip stick? from what the book says you can't check it either...

I can see the red cap, but it looks like you would have to remove the air box to get to it...

Also, when I do change it I would like to use Mobil 1 syn ATF, anyone else done this? any issue's in doing this?

Your right, you don't have a dipstick!! Oddly enough my 04 Impala does have a dipstick. GM's rationale behind this still eludes me!! Personally, I like to be able to check the condition and level of ALL my critical fluids including the transmission.

That was one of the points that turned me off of buying a late model GA when I got rid of the 97.

If that is true, Then why does my 04 Impala have a dipstick, While none of the 04 Grand AM's I looked at did not?
