saddly... putting in the cai was alot smoother then putting in my TB spacer. it didnt take but almost 2 hours to have everything ripped out from the factory airbox, battery, wheel off..... to having everything new in... wheel back on and snappin pictures in between.
the tb spacer took 13 hours (12 if you count lunch break) for moding it to fit since it was about 1/16" to tall.
(sorry some of the pics are blurry, i think the shudder speed on the camera is set wrong from the last time i was in the city snappin pictures.

I'm always glad to see another satisfied customer!
A little bit of aluminum polish will take care of all the smudges that the piping sometimes gets during installation and it'll give it a nice chrome-like shine.
And yes, there is no way to describe just how good that sound really is!

Am I the only person on here who cant get thier headlight off to do this mod? I have tried twice and both times had the same problem....I installed the SLP my self so I am capable of doing the work...if I could just get that blasted headlight off....hmm speaking of blasting would a little c4 work? lol
Congrats and maybe one day my headlight will come off and I too will have a CAI.

Are you trying to get the plastic RAM AIR tubing out?

You have to take it off to get the end part of the resonator off...at least I did.
check the FAQ and I think there's something there about how to remove it.

Ya take the headlight housing off and stick your hand in there and use a small wrench. It took me a while to figure that one out too. I tried to wiggle that for a long time.

you guys took the headlight out to get that one? i just shoved my 10mm socket up there with 2 extenders and knocked that puppy out... here...
here is a picture of the peice I beleive you are referring too:

and about right behind the headlight is where it is at

I took off the plastic shrouding that is part of the fenderwell cover that extends to the front bumper... stuck my hand/wrench right on up there and blindly found it/got it out.
i just left mine on, i figured it would add a little more airflow directly to the filter.

theres a forum member (never knew drspeed was a member too) who sells CAIs for 3400s, you can get em with, or wothout the filter (with filter=real kn) Red99GAGT I think is his screenname, correct me if I'm wrong, it should be in my signature.
I think they're a bit less than drspeed in price, but I am interested in making my own, how much would it cost? Some pieces of bent alumanum tubing seems kinda pricey.

I sold my DS stage 3 intake maybe 2 weeks ago. I miss it alot. The sound is gone. I would like to make my own but I think it is just easier to buy one already made. Its hard to find the nice red/blue, ect couplers and precut aluminum tubbing.

how easy was the install for you?? I was looking at the same one for my car but i wouldn't know exactly how to do it......
Brandon

easy. the instructions that come with it were almost perfect. might be perfect for a 99 but since mine was an 04 i think there werew a couple changes somewhere that werent edited in.... took about an hour and a half to do the ripout/install. just depends on your "skill" with cars or what not.... some people might take em a long while... while others might take less.

Damn 2 hours??? I think we did it in 20 mintues while in the staging lanes at the track. :)
ANd I changed the fuel injector in less than 13 hours. That included cleaning the inside and out of the manifolds, TB, and painting the intake and valve covers. :D
