SLP exhaust owners out there? Who has switched mufflers and tips and kept the SLP piping? How does it sound? Louder? Any performance difference? Because some mufflers are more restrictive than others.

Isnt it the muffler that gives it the sound. I have the borla muffler and tips and kept the stock piping.

I want to trade my Borla muffler for a SLP :( but need to find a seller around my area.. shipping would be a pain

What kind of Borla muffler do you have? Borla XS?

a) what do they look like
b) look at where i'm from. we should get together at a cruise night, on thursday nights after 6pm theres one in dorr, mi.

Go south on 131, get off at the dorr exit, take a right and keep going for a couple miles. Pull into dairy ranch. It should really be called classic car ranch on thursday nights.

I usually park across the street.

^^ I used to go there last summer. I know exactly where it is. Are you gonna be there this thursday? As long as it dosent rain now till then ill show. Have you ever been to MGM (Michigan Grudge Match)?

They look like this.

My cardomain is horribly out of date. My car dosent look like that anymore and is much faster.

Coupe, those tips look sweet. Do the tips touch the bumper at all? My SLP tips are touching the bumper because the whole exhaust system slides left and right. It leaks at one of the joints too. I just want to make sure SLP muffler is what I want before getting the whole thing welded.

Actually i moved the tips inwards more so they are only sticking out maybe 1/4" and pulled them up flush with the bumper so they are touching the bumper. In those pics they are sticking out about 1 1/2" and about 1/4" or a tad more away from the bumper. They look much better now but i dont have any pics of them right off hand. I welded my SLP on so it dont move a whole lot if any.

I've been thinking about getting a borla exaust. Why don't you like yours?

I know I dont got a lot of creditbility since I'm a newbie here but I'll tell you what. SLP and Borla both make great exhausts. Personally I liked the SLP on my LT1 Z28 and the Borla sounds great on almost everything it's made for. If I was to buy an exhaust for my wife's 99 Grand AM I'd probably choose SLP since they offer a lifetime warranty and guarantee the best possible performance out of an exhaust. Finally if I really wanted my car faster I wouldn't waste the $600 on an exhaust. I'd just save a little more and do a head/cam package on my car, which would be amazing.

SLP and Borla both offer warranty. I just started to think it's too loud for me. But I heard it when I had someone drive my car away and it sounded really sweet. It didn't sound that loud because when you are inside the car, the sound drones throughout the cabin. SLP offers better flow because Borla is 2.25" piping with resonator and SLP is 2.5 without resonator.

^^^ You are correct.
If you think SLP is loud try it with S&S headers 2.5" flex pipe, magnaflow carsound cat. That sh!t is loud. I cant be quiet if i tried. The idle is so loud it vibrates the car windows of the cars next to me. Coming home at 2am and trying to be quiet is impossible.
My tips by the way come on a few different high end SUV's. I went truck shopping this weekend and seen them on a bunch of denallis (sp?) and Navigators. the reason i dont know more about my tips is becuase my girls dad works for Muffler Man and got me the tips and never told me where they came from.

SLP pipes and Magnaflow part $14266 (Camaro-style) supposedly sounds good.

I've bene pondering doing this since I already have the Magnaflow muffler.I only heard one clip and it was revving.

It sounded good. Cleaned up the grumbly sound and made it clean. The clip I heard made it sound similar to my best friends dads 96 Mustang GT with Flowmaster 50 series.

If anyone has a launch clip or something PM me or post here.

O yea and can we still call up SLP through Art and get the pipes?

Damnit...Saving up the $330 for the whole catback would be a waste for me. Guess now unless I find a seller I'll have to get 2.5 inch pipes made up. :(

If your not getting headers or forced induction, crush/pressure bent will be just fine for you.
