I plan on Tuneing my car, but It was recommend by a few friends wo think they know what they are talking about, that i should have my Govener removed, before i do additional upgrades.

Is there an way to remove it manual, or is it all electronic. If its manual cna it be done by myself, or do i need a real machanic.?

Also is this an ok thing to do, or are there safer alteritives to get my car to pass 180KM.?

Thank you for your time.

No the pfyc chip will not work on your 2.4. Why do you want your govenor removed? Plan on going over 105mph on a regular basis? With the mods you talked about in your other thread you would not be trapping over 100mph in the 1/4 mile, so why is there a reason to move it? Once again if you want to remove it ASE can do that for you. Oh yeah and I see your from Canada so if you decide to go with ASE which is located in Mexico if I remember correctly, you will be stuck without a car for a while.

No one should ever go to ASE... or send anything to them. If you really need the governor off, have a good mechanic do it, or some custom shop or something, anything other than ASE.. And if I am not mistaken, this was brought up @ Quad4Forums not too long ago, as well...

The govenor isn't something a mechanic can "remove" physically though. It's part of the cars computer programing and has to be replaced. PFYC should have custom programing available for all GA's from digital horsepower.

DHP does not have the program for the 2.4

I know the governor is a computer program, or lock if you will, that tells the ECU to shut off fuel to the engine at a certain speed/rpm. but any technologically-inclined indivdual with some apps, a laptop, connection to a car's computer, for long enough can figure out how to alter, if not, delete completely whatever process/program handles the speed governor. remember, a man designed and programmed the computer, and another, equally capable man can alter or delete the programming of the first man.

I want it remvoed for the simple fact that, I simply dont like it. There are a few nice stretches of street around where i live that go for a good 4 or 5 KM where alot of people race there cars, tuned and just basic stock, if i felt like raceing I would liek to have the advantage of not kicking out at 160-175 if it ever came to having to get to that speed.

Also I am not a crazy bastard 100%of the time when I am driveing, I have alwasy been into raceing since i was little, Four wheelers, Bikes, anything with wheels and speed. So i am interested in slowly making my car something that will take on alot of other cars which owners think are the best, like the one million Integras in my town and all the done up civics.

But yeah The governer has to go, but i recently talked to a custom shop owner in Halifax, and he says he has all the stuff to remove the goveer and adjust spark time and yadda yadda, so maybe i wont be needing a chip after all.

It does take take the 99+ 2.4 about a 1 or two to get to 105  unless you push it hard.

But like others said the governor is part of the computer, adjusting spark will not get rid of it, I belive you can get rid of it with a tech 2 tool. But a tech 2 thing cost like 2k.

You can get rid of it with a switch inline to the VSS sensor...but you're gonna have to search jbody.org if you wanna know how.

Good luck on not killing somebody.

*this is for manual cars only*

Yea, i was gonna say, its takes my 2.4L about 1 mile to get to 100 (i just guess since the exits on the freeway are one mile apart, and i got from one on ramp to the next off ramp without anyone in my way -- and then i started decelerating since i was on the off ramp
