Has anyone here painted their grill? I do not like my bland black grill.

I was thinking of painting the edge white to match the car, and the honeycomb iner part chrome to match the trim that goes around the body.

Do you think it would look good?

Eh.. it would like for like a week.. Then all the road debris would chip it and make it look.. eh.. less than attractive.. What about getting gutter guard? or a mesh grille kit?

Go ahead. If you don't like it, paint it black.

You know, I didn't think of that. Good point.

I painted mine silver and it lasted a long time. Just clean it off real good and make sure you do light coats. Dont soak it. Then afterwards use a good clearcoat and youll be set.

Chances are it will flake off & chip some unless you use an adhesion promoter for plastics. Ask for some at your local body supply shop. It's what we use body shops. Otherwise, paint does not bond to plastic very well & it's much worse on the front of the car. But yes, do it right & if you don't like it, paint it back black.:)

Dupli-Color has adhesion promoter but I don't know if it's for plastics. Krylon has paint for plastic too.

Tried all forms of grill paint. I didn't like any of it. It never lasts.

Make, or order your own grills. That's the way to go.

Well I painted mine today and my dad has some left over clear coat from when he painted his truck so tomorrow were going to put a few coats of clear coat over top of about 4 to 6 light coats of chrome spray paint from auto zone.

Make sure your autozone "chrome" is not lacquer. Going over lacquer with enamel or or urethane will lift it.
