I am going to be installing an oil pressure gauge, and when I was doing some research it seemed like a few people have had trouble locating the oil pressure sender on the 3100/3400. I found a nice picture of where it is located.

A - knock sensor

B - oil pressure sender

They are located on the front of the block under neath the exhaust manifold. The oil pressure sender is a little harder to get to than the visible knock sensor since you can't see it from above or below the motor.

I was going to...I had 2 printouts of your manual and had been trying to talk myself into doing it but I soon talked myself out of it. I need something that would be 100% reliable. I didn't have the time to swap it in and also where I live in Canada, 3400 motors are going for way more than they should be...I couldn't find one with low k for under $1000. You did a great job on that manual though.

Unfortunately that's not my engine. I actually think it's out of a 2000+ malibu...but none the less it was showing what I wanted.

As for my motor. It is purring so nice, runs great, and looks mint. I had everything painted when it was out of the car. Even the oil pan :D. I will have pics up soon don't worry. Mine is just as clean as this one except for my exhaust heat shields...so I may have to change that :)

... if you are putting in a gauge, go one step further and install a nipple, followed by a tee, then you can reinstall the factory sensor so your dash light will continue to work, plus, you will have the other side for your gauge :)

Yeah I think I'm going to do it like that. Where did you pick it up from? Like Canadian Tire or something?

... any hardware or plumbing shop will have a "pipe-threaded" nipple and tee ... just make sure you use some teflon tape or pipe sealant :)

In that picture it's #2. The Oil Pressure Sensor goes where that stock sensor is.
