search limewire/kazaa/bearshare etc for bass There are several 'songs ' that are just a very heavy bass beat....might be worth a shot

I got one for ya. Lil Whyte got one. u know with Three6Mafia. anyway i believe the song is bay area ni99as. at the beginning, they have something called a bass check. its good. if u cant handle that, then u have no business battling. and i got another song, ying yang twin- armageddon. get them both, i know u gonna get them for free so if u don't like em, the hell with em.
get a bass test cd......they have all inds off test tones.
You'll see ;)
Most people only do "burps" for competitions.

the song I used to get my 127.8 was on the Lil Jon and The East Side Boyz, Crunk Juice CD, song was Da Blow,#6 on the CD. After I was done There was like 5 other cars that were being measured and it seemed that other people were using the same song as me

just run bass tones, you'll save power for your amps by not running the highs and mids, plus you won't run the risk of blowing your highs and mids when you push the system harder than normal, so far i've gotten 148db on the AC mic with just a 40hz tone, kinda odd though because my box is tuned at 32hz

If you want a song though instead of just bass a friend of mine uses that Usher song that's popular. The one that has what sounds to me like a nuclear alarm clock bleating in the background. The bass combined with the low midrange makes the system stand out more than just an everyday thumper. I guess it depends on the type of competition though.

That's the one, I found it on the net. That horn in the background would make a good air raid siren or something. I just think that other people will have just bass so a song that's recognizable will stand out more than sheer volume.

I find comp CD's to be the best. Ive have several people ask for my CD's at sound comps because all they bring is regular listening CD's liek the ones you mention. The comp ones definatly will net you better results. Also, when searching for a comp CD make sure it has sine or Hertz waves or whatever they call them now, you will find they will be the best though they only hit the best numbers very shortly. Its funny as hell to see my system on one of those as in the very low Hertz range they dont make much sound but rattle my car to pieces.

like mentioned earlier get a competition CD like the one on IASCA.com. thats a competition league, and their CD has that frequency sweep which means it stsarts a 1hz and move up through the range. every second it hits a new freq. and then jsut find your loudest frequency and there you have it.
as far as music goes, a good system will play Smashing Pumpkins: thirty-three in a manner that at around 30 sec in it the bass starts and is constant throughout the rest fo the song. the frequency will change, but the bass wont stop.

lil john - Get Low gets pretty deep. but a competition cd is your best bet

Just make sure you use a real CD and not a CD filled with MP3s. Compression cuts off all notes below 20hz and above 20khz, as well as severely cutting out quality and bass impact, but I'm sure you know this if you are competing. Depending on the type of competition, you might want to consider some of the Bone Thugs N Harmony songs. Crossroads has long, deep bass lines, and so does Thug Luv, along with a deep gunshot sound. And even better, the group is from Cleveland:)

well, when you're competing you're probably not using any notes below 20Hz anyway. notes that low don't register near as well as notes of higher frequency. :) but you are correct, MP3s don't sound as good as cd's.

yeah, the whole...what music hits hard idea...has been discussed and posted about before. Just a quick search will help you out with that.
But as far as competition, dB Drag : dB Jams Volume 2 is an official comp disc used for Db Drag. about 12 good tracks that are made specifically to enhance the lower tones. Plus about 70 other test tone tracks. IASCA Also had competition disks as well.
