Traded the GA this weekend...

well, for those of you who don't read the postwhoring thread regularly, i thought i'd start a thread here with some pics...

i traded in my 99 Grand Am SE2 (V6, 4dr) this weekend for an 05 Grand Prix GXP... (every option except Navigation and Engine Block Heater)

i couldn't pass up the deal that they gave me with the GM Employee Discount program...

anyway, to start things off, i thought i'd post a pic of the GA... in memory... :D

i don't know if the rims would fit the GA or not... but the front offset is a lot larger than the rear... i'll try and get some pics of that to show you the difference tonite too...

oh yea, the front is 245 or some such and the rear is 225... that may not work well on my GA.. unless i put the wider ones in the rear. maybe I should look into this...

they gave me $2500 for my 99GA (se2, v6, 4dr, 86k miles)

i financed about $26,400 for 6 years through my credit union at 5.49%

i'm making bi-weekly payments (they come out automatically the same day that my paroll dirrect deposit goes in) and they're about $199 every 2 weeks. (this saves me about $33 in interest per month).

the MSRP on the car was $33,395.
GMS pricing was $27,636.98 (including $2k incentive. this is also pre-tax, tag, and title).

i dunno about the slp... i'm thinking flowmaster mufflers... the only bad thing is that its single exhaust back to a y pipe and dual mufflers... but i'm sure we can find a way to remedy that... :D

Sweet ride. Just looking over some numbers the other day in a auto magazine, and if they are right, you should beat an RX8, 300ZX, Audi A4, A8 and many other hot vehicles down the 1/4 mile strip. Have fun!

That's pretty cool that the GXP has separate amber driving lights and fog lights. It looks like you have projector fog lights in your lower grill.

I love how both grilles are the hexagonal pattern, and the 2 sets of extra fog/driving lights are sweet. Its so sexy, need night and underbody pics!! and ore engine shots... hell I have to see this car in person, damn it! Road trip to tc's house!!

yeah, the fog lights are bright as hell.. i couldnt tell when they were on in my GA, but you know when they're on in this car...

this is the exhaust manifold from the front bank... it wraps over the engine and back to a Y collector where it forms a single exhaust back to another Y pipe and out to dual mufflers... might have to do something about that single exhaust :shit: :D

they don't make it in a 2dr any more unfortunatly... but the HUD is standard as is TAPshift... the nice thing about it, even though its a sedan, is that it has the lines of a coupe... :D

yeah, on the GTP and GXP the fold-flat front seat is standard.... its actually a really nice feature... you can fit a 9 foot piece of cargo through from the trunk... :D

thats pretty awesome, but you need to step up those G's.. especially that lateral G.. cmon, the most G's you have experienced is when decelerating. I want something that computes and displays the forces of gravity working on my car under specific conditions, thats so badass

that pic was taken before i raced my friend in the 01 Cobra... now my accel is like .79g's and i really don't want to get the decel real high cause that means beating on my really expensive breaks... :P

i'm still being cautious about hard cornering... haven't had the stabilitrac kick in yet and i'm not sure if i want it to... :lol: but i'm sure i'll get more agressive with it sooner or later... and then... more pics... :D

yea., decel G's are always bad, actually, I try to keep my braking and decelerating less noticeable, an dim always complemented when people ride along, they sometimes say things like "wow, your soft with the brakes!" or, "for once, i didnt think I was gonna die while riding in your car"

But that doesnt mean I cant punch the accelerator and creep up on that rev limiter every now and then. :wink:

Very nice GXP!

I see Pontiac went back to the engine turned aluminum dash panels. Very retro, I like it. You won't see that on any ricers or imports. Between the turned aluminum dash and heat extractors it has some 2nd Gen TA styling.

ehh, the dealer sticker really doesn't bother me... i might take it off eventually...

tint is on the list, btu not real dark, 30% (70% visability) is the legal limit in PA and i'm not about to give the cops any more reason to pull me over...

intake and exhaust are prolly the first things that are gonna go on it... tho i'm not sure if i'm going to go full cat-back or just mufflers... have to see, noone makes a cat-back system for it yet... so it'd have to be custome if i did that... but i'll post sound clips when i finally get the money together to do it...

the inner ones are the fogs... the outer ones are the DRL's/turn signals... on other GP's (SE, GT, GTP, CompG) the fogs and DRL's are in the same housing on the outside where my DRL's are...

ive never owned a "new" car... the closest I got was a base model 2000 Nissan Sentra (1.8L sr18det engine with whatever 5spd transmission nissan puit in that car) - i picked it up for 6K or somewhere around there in 2003, clean title.. well, until I totalled it earlier this year... It was a good car, it could beat civics with no mods. It worked well as a commuter car, it had no torque so it was easy to drive in traffic -- not like the GA with nearly twice as much torque (yum, torque)

I think you also had Americas only turbocharged B14 1.8L Sentra.

But, wait a second jay, get up off your high horse for one second... and read.

Sentras came with either of two dual-overhead-cam 4-cylinder engines, depending on model. A 1.8-liter four rated at 126 horsepower went into the XE and GXE, while the SE sedan used a 145-hp 2.0-liter. Both engines came with 5-speed manual shift or an optional 4-speed automatic transmission.

while my engine code was very incorrect, my engine size was correct, the sentras dropped the shitty 1.6L in the year 1999 (thats the same engine as in the SE models of the 200sx) Nice try though. :thumbup:

asnd then i could go on, how the XE and GXE models both came with that engine, but the SE package (later replaced by the SE-R VSpec models) came with the 2.0L Twin Cam sr20de engine... then in 02 The vspec made its way to the forefront with a QR25DE engine, which had a the "VTC" -- variable intake cam timing, and this engine was mated to the closer-geared 6-speed manual transmission and sported a helical limited slip differential.
