Hey guys new to the GA's and i picked up a turbo GA 89 i believe. I've entered it into a 100 lap endurance race so i need some help makin this baby move. I don't care for exhaust just anything else that can help this bad boy out. I was thinkin about removing the vaccum hose from the wastegate accuator but the thing throws codes like a mofo haha. Plus i want the engine to make it to a 100 laps. Is there a max psi before the ecu throws a code? Any info would be awesome!
Thanks guys

More like a max PSI before the engine throws a rod.

Yeah, it's tough coming to an 'enthusiast' site and openly admit to buying a car just to destroy it in a race.
As far as performance and endurance, work on cooling system upgrades, like a new larger capacity aluminum radiator and intercooler, and possibly an oil cooler. If it has an auto tranny, then definately install a tranny cooler.
Suspension and brakes would be my next area for modification. You can make a billion horsepower, but if the car won't stay on the track it's all wasted. Stiffer swaybars with urethane or solid bushings and heim joints, more aggressive shocks/struts, stiffer springs, and most definately some frame reinforcement including strut tower braces front and rear, subframe connectors, and probably g-load braces. Wider wheels and tires are a given, and I would most definately inspect and/or replace the wheel hubs and control arm bushings and balljoints. Better brakes is another must.
Finally getting down to performance, a full exhaust is definately needed. A mandrel bent downpipe is a must. What happens to it after that is up to you and race rules. If you want to dump it out under the car, then cool if it's legal. Just make sure there IS a downpipe, as running a turbo without a downpipe will destroy the turbo in short order.
Otherwise, gut the car, make it as light as possible, and don't kill yourself.

Man it's just a race for fun i just wanted some tips ( which i got.. thanks Themeena) This is a beater car .... beating on it is it's purpose. Entering it into a 100 lap endurance race is like it's going to heaven.

So this is why there is no more turbo 2.0L on the road?
Seriously, when the race is all said and done, and you've destroyed the car, can I have the turbo and the exhaust mani and everything else that is associated with the turbo? I will pay you if the pieces in question arent completely trashed!

rip out everything
do a tune up (plugs, fuel filter)
make a manual boost controller

Yep i've striped everything out of it right down to bare metal except for the driver's seat and half of the dash so i can still see how fast i'm going haha.
I've installed new brakes, cone filter intake, custom intercooler, 4 point roll cage, full tune up, and very free flowin exhaust. Oh and i'm workin on the manual boost controller.
Is there anything else i'm missing here?
And when the race is done.... pending on the condition of the car cuz who knows what it's going to look like after.... i might keep it for another round of an endurance race or i'll just pull the engine, wiring harness and ECU and throw it into a new car to go back on the road because i'm sure the engine won't blow on me i'm hopeing.
If the engine does blow i'll just part out the engine or maybe rebuild it who knows we'll just have to wait and see what happens. ;)

Ou said you don't want to do an exhaust but the funny thing is with any turbo car your first mod should be a totally unrestircted exhaust. Say 2.75" with no-cat and a free flowing muffler.

In one hundred laps, you can expect to throw a rod, or spin a bearing, but good luck anyhow

When i said i wasn't worried about the exhaust i meant that the exhaust will be taken care of. But your right exhaust on a turbo car is very important in regards to performance.
I'm hoping that the engine makes it through this test of endurance. We'll see how far i get.

Should get out of the hole...
Maybe another lap or two...
Or three...
