I know that you can order the powrtuner from digital horsepower but that is extremely expensive. Does anyone know of a way to tune your PCM yourself? I looked around on the internet and the only thing I really found was programs for performance vehicles, i.e. LT1. I am probably going to have to send in my PCM to DH to have it tuned for my new 3400. Anyone know how much a custom tuning is going to cost me?

Some of the better garages have the code scanners that can tweak some settings. Those scanners cost about 1500 dollars though so don't expect them to hand it to you carte blanche.

the problem with those scanners is they only can tune within the stock perameters, nothing much better. You have to get it re-flashed or aftermarket ones that only one or 2 companies actually put out. The only place doing ones for the 2.4 is J-Body Performance.DHP makes one for the 3400 I belive, dunno about the 3100

HPTuners also makes a tuner, but it's more expensive than the DHP unit. Also not sure about the 3.1.

DHP is going to be your best bet. Dave knows what he's doing when it comes to customizing one for your car. The absolute best idea is to set up a session with them. If you simply send your PCM to them Dave has to make a guess as to the parameters of your car and can only go so far with a tune. Each 3100 and 3400 when sonic charted come out differently, each car has a personality of sorts and needs to be addressed differently.

As far as custom programming your own. Good Luck. The software to PROPERLY tune a car runs about 8000 bucks. The code scanners aren't worth the 40 bucks that anyone pays for them. A Tech II can do a little bit more, but runs to the tune of about 2000 dollars new.

Where are they located? And do you know if it costs anymore than the starded program?

for self tuning, i found
this. (http://www.pfyc.com/pc/GN7021/GNOTHER/Digital+Horsepower+Inc.+PowrTuner.html)

i think this is the digital hoursepower that was mentioned. has anyone used this software and interface before?

i just installed superchip max on my 2000 dodge dakota, and man it was worth the $320. shifts 50% better, more power, no speedo. and its reads error codes. if only there was a superchip for the 3400. :(
