Well.....I finally have a car that suits my age! My lease was up on my GA two weeks ago so it's gone.
About 2 months ago my dad called me with an offer I couldn't refuse. He has driven Lincoln Town Cars for about the past 20 years, but two years ago he decided to by a Buick Park Avenue instead. Well, he hasn't been happy with it since he bought it because it just doesn't feel or ride the same as a Lincoln. So he called me and asked me if I wanted his Park Avenue before he traded it. I figured it was worth a trip down to Floride to pick it up.
Basically it's a new car......only 23K miles and it still has 50K left on the extended warranty.

Park Ave's are very nice cars. Great ride, luxurious interior, some pretty good power under the hood...Hell I would drive that car if I had the option to :D

yea, its definitely the best looking car Buick makes (even though that doesnt say much) it still looks better than most hondas and hyundai's, too.
Now throw some 19s on it, slam it, open up that exhaust, and find a huge turbo to stick under the hood!
Hey Tom, I thought only dead people drove Park Avenues.
I hope you saved that AARP membership application . :D
Do Park Avenues come standard with non-canceling turn signals?
J/K good luck with the new car.:)

I love it....Congrats on the new ride! I'd love to have a Park Avenue myself. I can have plenty of room for the kids and still look high class without the SUV.......:P

I hate buicks, ive been driving my perants Rivi for the last two weeks or so while my cars been in the shop getting a new ECM. I cant wait to get out of that thing and drive my car agian. Although it has some balls with the 3800 s/c, and it is a nice car, but it doesnt fit me i guess.
In any event, car looks good, hope you enjoy buicks more then me or your father do.

Actually my dad didn't really dislike the Buick, he was just used to driving a Town Car and to be honest, there isn't really a comparison between a Town Car and a Park Avenue.
. There's a big difference between the way a GM rides and a Lincoln rides. People who prefer Lincolns don't like the way a Caddy rides and vice-versa.
At any rate, I got back from Florida tonite and was really pleased with the Buick on the way home. I wasn't tired at all when we got here, and we drove 16 hours straight trhough. We averaged between 70 and 85 MPH all the way home and I got 31 MPG on the highway. Not bad for a car as big as this one is. :)

Thanks Kelly!! I did take my life in my own hands though. I let my daughter drive through the mountains in Virginia and West Virginia!!
You know that handle that they put in some cars (mostly old people cars) that's above the passenger door??? I thought it was to help you get in and out of the car. Well I was wrong!! It is now officially named the "Oh Shit" handle because That's what I was saying as I was hanging on to it through all of those curves in the mountains while she was driving!!

Nice car Tom! I think you'll find the Buick to be perfect...both my Buicks have been great!
As for that "Oh Shit" handle - my Riv has one on the driver's side as well as the passenger side. Apparently it's there if you scare yourself while driving! :P Too bad it's not an Ultra, but the N/A 3800 is very nice too. I got about the same gas mileage going back from my dad's last summer - pretty good considering how big these cars are.

This is actually my 3rd Buick. I had a 70 GS for a while and it was a really nice car. Then I had a 76 Regal that I absolutely loved. I guess someone else liked it too because it was stolen about 9 months after I bought it.
I've had this thing about two weeks and the more I drive it the better I like it. What surprises me is the comments that I get from guys in the 30 and up age group. The comments I keep getting are, "I'd drive it in a minute" or "Damn, that's one pimp ride."
The 3800 seems to have more than enough power especially when you consider how big the car is. The acceleration from 0 to 20 is naturally not as torqie, but after 20 it'll fly. The thing is, in this kind of car you don't have the tendency to put your foot into it.......you just sit back and cruise. ;)

Big Pimpin' Tom. I wanted to go again at the track in the GA before you got rid of her. She is a big beast. What engine is in that Buick? I think a set of 20" wheels, custom exhaust and a nice SC setup is all you need then it will be all that:D

LOL @ John :)
sorry, but the Caddy still has more dead body space then the Buick :)
too bad it wasn't an Ultra... they have a fun little option.... supercharger :)
They are nice tho, I like the Buicks, poor mans Caddy, yes, but IMO one of the best cars to get the 3800, and speaking about that, even tho it is NA, there are still LOTS of performance parts out for them.... any plans?
Buick has always had some neat options and styling, I personally really like the front with the waterfall grille.... but the back hasn't grown on me at all... the tail lights and stuff.
Nice thing about the "old mans" cars too, is that the cops tend to overlook them....alot ;)
Nice new car tho! lots of luck, not that you need it, the 3800 will run forever anyway :)

There's a GN for sale here right now, but the guy's still a little high on his price. If I had a chioce of another Buick, it would be an old GS though.
