ok so i'm attempting to install a jvc kd-dv5100. Got the wireing harness and matched up all the wires. The HU does not turn on. When I hit the display button it shows the time and lights up then shuts off after 5 sec. It takes and ejects cd's , but doesn't do anything, so I know it's getting power. Can anyone help me???? Am I retarded?

it might be in what they call a security mode read the install ins. it will tell you if there is a code needed or of you need to push a sequence of buttons for it to start up

what wiring kit do you have? I'm guessing you have a 2001 Ga?

yes I have a 2001 ga, the wireing kit is made for 2000-2004 ga. My stock HU works fine when i plug it in. I'm gonna triple check every wire i guess tomorrow.

Is your kit wiring kit the relocation one or the chime box thing? Because in 2001 the wiring system changed. But also make sure the radio is not lock like beatz said.

it's neither the chime box or the relocation one. Its just a reg. harness.

you will have to run a switch 12v line to your radio's red wire.

:iagree:

There is no switched 12V+ wire in the factory harness. You'll have to find a switched 12V+ source in the driver's fuse panel, and use a fuse tap to deliver power to your deck's switched input.

A GMRC-01 harness would have solved this issue.

yes this must be my problem. A fuse tap and longer wire came with the wiring harness and didn't know what it was for, I didn't know there wasn't 12v switched power in the harness. I'm going to tackel this today, thanks guys!!!
