abs light

after i bought my grand am the light would come on once every week i didn't think anything of it but still asked the dealership they didn't know either and so they just left it......now its gotten to the point everytime i get into the car and turn it on i make it 20 feet then it comes on....what should i do

Don't trust your Brakes to stop the car every time.

I have a similar problem and occasionally my pedal won't go down. I ended up about 15 feet further than i meant to once. is there a clicking noise when the light first comes on? Do they brakes always work? It could be a bad sensor, the computer for the ABS, or the ABS Module. I am in the middle of figuring this problem out myself.

My problem started the same way, then after a few months of the light being on it began making a grinding noise just before the light came on, i started getting a "hard pedal" , then after the light comes on the brakes work fine.

Its fine now. I get the light every once in awhile, i beleive it was just my hubs being dirty. Brakes work fine always have. I frequently check them so i don't worry yet.
