is it idling slow, or is it just shaking like it is?
If it's just shaking, try some fuel injector cleaner. Help out with my rough idle. I use it every oil change.
cool i'll try that thx
shakes like its idling too low

In most cases when the idle rasises and falls on it's own with out you touching the gas. Is a vacumm leak. Have you got in the motor compartment and did any thing lately?
If yes, look in that area for a cracked hose or a hose that has been pulled off, flopping so to speak.
just had a new engine put in.....
it feels like the car is going to bog out but it doesnt. it just shakes as if i had a real lumpy cam in the car lol
now if im driving my car and its doing this am i doing any damage to it?

Not there to see or hear, I can't tell ya. If it does it Big Time, there is a chance.
Do you have access to a timming light?
no i dont.
the car is fine once your on the gas though thats why i think there is a bug somewhere with whatever controls what the car idles at.

* Bad motor mounts will accentuate shaking.
You *should* have got new motor mounts with the new engine.
* Could be leaky vacuum, loose or faulty TPS (Throttle Postion Sensor), or other sensor.
* Is 'Check Engine' light 'on', and have you scanned for codes?
* If you "...just had a new engine put in...", you should have a 30-day or 60-day warranty on the complete installation.
A NEW replacement engine should run AS PERFECTLY as an original showroom engine (with minor allowance for existing cooling system, exhaust system, PCM, etc.).
A JunkYard replacement engine should still have a warranty, and should run very well with no 'hunting' for idle, leaks, mis-adjustments, etc. A JY engine *might* need some new sensors, but the installer should have checked for those, charged you, and replaced them.
Rather than analyze stuff or ask questions here, just take it back to the installer and have him analyze and fix the problem.
(Whatever YOU do could void his warranty to you!)
Good luck.

thx rick ive booked an appointment with my local gm dealer...
they are going to hook it up and see whats going on..sometimes the SVS light comes on and other times it doesnt.
so many possibilites right now.
1 other could be the gas im using has been sitting for about 4 months
im going to go fill up with some high octane and try that.
but idont think the gas is my problem simply because once i get going the car runs totally fine.
