I have a 2k GA, with the 3400v6.

When I was running the engine with the hood open the other day I was listening real good and heard something and ID'd it to be coming from the PCV valve (the one on the front of the engine, I have no idea about the other one since it's way back there somewhere).

It's a really quick click-click-click noise at idle.

I'm just wondering if that's normal or of they need replaced.

Matt;

Your engine only has 1 PCV valve. It is located on the front valve cover on the drivers side. Normally it should not be excessively loud. If it is then change it and see if the noise goes away.

Ok, I'll get a new one soon, I was thinking there was 2 since that pcv tubing that goes up by the tb from there makes a 't' and goes back to the "back" of the engine. If there's no pcv valve, what does it go to? Don't tempt me to investigte it myself, I'll prolly mess something up.:bawl:

It goes to the 'Evaporative Canister Purge Valve' that's clipped under the coil pack.

Do NOT mess around under there, since there's a specially-formed U-shaped piece of tubing that connects to another tube.
That U-piece is quite fragile and can only be puchased with the $25 other piece of tubing. Don't ask how I know :banghead:

There's a diagram of all the emissions-related tubing.
It's printed on a decal, located on the passenger-side strut tower.

The 'Evapoartive Canister' is a bottle of activated charcoal (located under the coolant reservoir).
When you shut-off the engine, oil and gasoline continue to evaporate.
The vapors are absorbed by the charcoal.
When the engine is next run, it sucks those vapors out of the charcoal and burns them.
Ad infinitum, to reduce emissions.

Hope that helps.
