Alright, quick question, hopefully. I put a Sony HU in my '03 awhile ago and I have one annoyance with it that I need to fix. I can't figure out how to keep the memory on it. If I turn the car off, after 2 minutes, the HU resets itself. Does anyone else have this problem too? Could it quite possibly be the HU itself?
I used the Metra kit (GMRC-01) for mine, but when I wired mine up I had 3 wires left over. Solid Orange (illumination) and Orange w/ white stripe (dimmer) comming from the HU, and a blue w/ white stripe (amp rem) comming from the harness. I have the add-a-circuit hooked into my acc fuse. Anyone have any ideas?
Edit: Originally, I had the standard CD player in it.

Don't worry about those extra wires, just tape them off. If they don't have a corresponding color in the radio side, then they're not necessary.

well i know that one of the wires hooks into something to dim the display with the rest of the lights, but i forget which. I'm thinking the other has to keep power to the HU memory, but I have no idea which, or where it goes. Ugh... I need a day just to experiment if no one knows.

you should have the wharness wired color for color. Sounds like you might have the red and the yellow wires crossed up. if not, then maybe the pins in the harness are wrong. double check and make sure EVERYTHING is going color for color. yellow-yellow- red-red etc...

everything is except the red + yellow... if I remember correctly, the display wouldnt work if they were wired the other way... but, i'll give it a shot on Friday and let you know.
Yeah I would swap the red and yellow back so that re matches red and yellow matches yellow, make sure your key is in and turned to accesory to get power tot eh deck, i believe the yellow wire is the constant 12v + that woudl hold all the presets for you

Sweet... thats what it was. I could of sworn last time I did that, that the HU wouldn't turn off when I turned off the car... could of been the fuse I had it tapped into as well...
Awesome Rick, glad it's working
