I have a 99 GA with a 2.4L in it right now. I just bent another connecting rod and need to swap motors again. This will be the 3rd 2.4 I have replaced in 1 1/2 years. I want to drop in a 3.4L. I know the mounts and the tranny will line up, but other than that, what kind of wiring problems am I looking at? And I will probably have to get a 3.4L brain box for it also. Need help and suggestions.... PLEASE!!!

Like I said. I've gone through 3 of the 2.4's in a year and a half. I am tired of putting a new engine in this car every 6 months. I am going to put the 3.4 in it, I jus need help to determine what I need to get to get the engine in and running. Thanks. All-in-all, I am converting a 2.4L SE into a 3.4L GT!

( which is a twin cam not a quad 4 ) You will need everything , exhaust , cooling , fuel , wiring harness , computer , brackets , motor mounts , etc from the donor car , probably more work and money than it's worth .

Yup. And then some.

Where are you finding these engines that only last 6 months? Cause all of the rebuild ones being sold (Jasper, etc) have a warranty.

You could rebuild the 2.4L with performance internals.

^^ thats what id do. a bent rod is way easier to fix then a spun bearing the messed up your entire #3 cylinder and blew a hole in your oil pan. Hmm?

Im on my second 2.4L, its rebuilt, and it had better be my last. But if you really wanna swap to a better engine, get a 2.3 HO and find a getrag to mate it to, then rev high everyday. redline is 7200 IIRC, and peak power is around 6500-7000

How could you go through that many motors in a short amount of time, what are you doing?

If you want a 3.4 that bad, you might want to consider buying a 1999 and up GAGT. This IS going to be WAY to costly
