I finally got my gauges and pod mounted up. I've had them sitting for almost a month. I put in an oil pressure gague and an air fuel gauge. They look great but I really wanted the oil pressure gauge for the functionality...maybe this time now I'll be able to keep a better eye on the pressure...:roll2: Anyways here are some pics...

looks awesome!!! how hard was it to hook up the air/fuel gauge??? that's the same set up that i will do when i've got the cash, but just curious how hard that air/fuel is....

thats sweet looking!!
yea, I bet you wish you had that oil gauge a few months ago :(
anyway, I like it a lot... and does that A/F ratio gauge jump back and forth a lot? my friend has one on his truck and its constantly back and forth adjusting itself.

Thanks :) A/F is very easy to install
1 wire goes to 12V ignition controlled power source
1 wire goes to ground
1 wire goes to purple wire at o2 sensor
and that's it :)

:( yeah no kidding, oh well what can ya do...anyways, it does bounce around alot but it never seems to hit rich...just lean and stoich. My friend has one also and his bounces from lean to rich constantly...so how knows...

Yeah ryan saw I was putting mine in and he had to rush to get his in before me. Now that he knows how to put them in and tested it on his car I'll let him install mine.

Nice. Is that the mustang pod you used?
The A/F ratio will bounce around normally... it really doesn't provide any meaningful data anyway. (need wideband sensor + controller to do that)

Yeah I used the 87-96 stang pod...a little heat and it fit almost perfectly. It should fit yours too since I think the pillars are the same from 92-98 I think.
I really only got the A/F for looks, I don't have enough done for it to be useful...:)

Yep, it will. They are the same from 92-98... although the stock A-pillar extends around the entire door on the coupe, but not on the sedan.
I'm still rather annoyed that we're lacking aftermarket support there... it's a part that appearance and performance people can both enjoy. I may get the mustang one for the interim, but may fiberglass a real one sometime.

Yeah it is frustrating. I mean how hard would it be for someone to come up with a mold. So many people would buy it. Whatever though. I fixed that problem :D
I was debating whether to mold it to the pillar but I have yet to decide if I want to paint the interior. Maybe then I will mold it.

IIRC, Lotek will produce a mold with so many pre-orders and a donor car. Could be wrong though, as it's been a long time since I read that.

I think that was attempted a few years ago... even with mixed coupes and sedan owners we were short. Couldn't get people to commit.

Doesn't that sound familiar... :(

I remember seeing a thread about that on here I think. Not sure if it was with Lotek or not but it was with someone...there just didn't seem to be enough interest at the time.

Where did you buy it from?

I grabbed the pod off of ebay. Someone was selling it used, but they are on there all of the time. Or you could get it through a parts store that carries guage pods

How bout this one? (http://www.sdpc2000.com/catalog/2498/products/9216/Ford-Mustang-79-93-2-1-16-Dual-Gauge-Pod.htm)
Same thing?
nice96gt

That is actually the exact one I have. It's made by autometer

Oh, what luck! Any idea what would be involved in putting a tach in the pod?
nice96gt
07-09-2005, 10:51 PM
If the tach is 2 1/6 then it will fit, which I highly doubt it is, then it would be straight forward like the rest of the gauges. I wouldn't put a tach there anyways even if it did fit though. You should put it more on the dash...
invaderzim624
07-09-2005, 11:01 PM
Well, it is 2 1/16" and I don't mind it being up in the pod. I can't stand those massive 5 1/4" monstrosities on the dash of Hondas.
nice96gt
07-09-2005, 11:16 PM
:D nice...well it would be the same as the rest so it should pop right in there :)

Well, I mean what wiring would be involved?

Basically, I think there are 5 wires, but I've never wired up a tach before so I'm not 100% sure
1 - 12v ignition controlled connection
2 - ground for guage
3 - sending singal from coil to guage
4 - ground for light
5 - 12v power source for light (usually tapped into dimmer wire)
But instructions will come with your tach. I would suggest creating a new thread and someone who knows more about it can help you out.
