Ok, I have two questions. The first one is, I have a lot of speaker wire that i use for my home audio stuff, can I use this speaker wire to wire my speakers to my amp?

Secondly, Where do I run the ground wire to? I know its supposed to be a piece of metal or something but do I run it outside my trunk underneath my car or what? Im very confused.

PS. Im installing a 40x4 channel amp into my trunk to power a pair of 6x9's and a pair of 5 1/4 components.

1. I don't see any problem using that speaker wire. It you use it for home audio it sounds like the wire has a good gage.

2. I used a mounting bolt for the ground. "I know the wires are too long"

You can connect the ground to any part of the steel body of the car. It's just got to make a good connection to bare metal. You can drill your own mounting point, or you can use an existing bolt. It's a good isea to sand down any paint surrounding the area to make sure you get a good connection. And the shorter the ground wire the better. Preferably 12-16".

...and yes, you can certainly use home speaker wire. It's basically the same thing.

:iagree:

Here's how I got my grounds. Just be sure to scrape off any paint so you get bare metal like sunrunner_pei said.
