I read on crutchfield that I would have to either "cut or unbolt" the rear factory mounting bracket for the head unit so that an aftermarket would fit. When I looked back there today, the only screw i saw was connecting the whole mounting interface, ingnition and all!!...and i dont think that is the "screw" they are talking about.....does anyone know about installing aftermarket head units into a 2001 Grand Am SE?? B.T.W. the head unit is a 2005 Sony F7715X...with about a 6 3/4" or 6 3/8" mounting depth....thanx

Use the mounting kit you buy and put it in, it's that simple. No need to cut, it should fit in flush and fine. Just make sure to push all the wires as far back and down as possible and be very careful with it.
