Anyone wanna try and build up a 2.2 turbo motor? Would take a bit of work and maybe some custom pistons/rings but I'm sure it's doable.

Ebay Auction Here (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7986333128&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1)

Were they ever available in the states? I'd be willing to bet the crank and rods would drop into a 2.0l block. A .040 bore with new pistions and rings on a 2.0l block would yield about 2.2l.

I've got a spare block and this would make an interesting project.

im not sure a 2.2 is even the same block as the 2.0, it might tho, they were in berrettas and caviliers from like 90-95, then 96+ was the 2.4

The motor in the auction is the same Brazilian motor we have. Main difference would be longer stroke and larger bore. The Brazilian engines weren't used in the US past '94 and only in Sunbirds.

The old GM 2.2 you're talking about was an OHV engine. Not the same engine as in the auction. The 2.4 is a DOHC quad cam engine, another completely different engine.

wow, this is an old GM pickup engine... im pretty sure this was implemented inside the old S-dimes... my friend's 88 had this engine mated to a the 3spd auto tranny, tho... it burst into flames on him, lol! that was a great day, a truck blew up in front of my house, rubber, steel, and glass shrapnel everywhere, good thing we were all a safe distance away. It was nuts.

the motor in the auction looks like someone just like, threw it on the ground and walked off, lol, just looks really messy, almost falling apart, or on its side
