I'm looking into getting a car alarm and was curious on which brand you would reccomend. I'm looking for something no more then $250, preferably with remote start too. Is Viper a good model??

Don't know about python.
I use Autopage

I have a Viper, Python is made by teh same company as Viper (DEI), good stuff :)

I have a unit from 12voltshop.com on my Fiero that works great and has a very long range. Been installed for 3+ years.
I alst just installed a Skytek Galaxy 5000RS on my 1991 Geo. This unit sucks. And the tech support is aweful. Stay away from Skytek. Unit works, but the range is terrible, about 30-50 feet max. Can't adjust cranking time and rpm door locking feature is inconsistent.
I too am looking for a remote start alarm for my 2001 Grand AM. I am thinking of going with 12voltshop.com unit with the GMBP-DL or DEI 555L bypass kit.

I'm a DEI fan. I have a Python in my '99, and have a Viper in my '03. Always had good luck with their products.

i have viper. 350 installed. remote paging, auto kill if its armed/going off and someone has the key... she still wont start.. can set it sensitive to tap it and it will go off, but if the wind blows or someone is thumping a system it wont.... i love it.

I'd recommend any products from Omega or Directed, both of which have many different brands they sell under.
I never really understood why car alarm makers do that though. Like Omega has CrimeGuard, Excalibur, Executive, K-9, Freedom, MARS and GPS2000 (which I think is called OmegaGPS now).
Directed has Viper, Python, Rattler, Hornet, Wasp, Sidewinder plus the Clifford and Avital names...
In some cases you can see how the different brands are justified (as they cater to slightly different needs) but at the same time a lot of the time the alarms are pretty much just clones of each other like a Cavy is to a Sunfire...
