Ok first off i have 2 12" Kappa Perfects running of a Power Acoustik Sterling Series 1200 watt amp and a Power Acoustik capacitor. Now my problem is that whenever the bass hits my lights dim,to where it looks like my lights are designed to hit with the bass.Anyway i have heard about replacing some wires from the alternator to the battery and was wondering what exactly i would need to do this and where the wires are. Also do you think i should have my alternator and battery tested to rule them out?Trav

the alt-battery wire is easy. on the alternator, theres a boot that covers a nut that holds on a terminal ring. just undo that nut, and use 4 gauge wire, add a ring terminal to one end, secure that inside the nut. wrap the wire in wire loom to protect it, and route the wire through your engine bay (avoiding all moving and hot parts) over to the battery. now youll need to connect the wire securely to the red part of the battery.

id also recommend running a new ground for the battery. for this, remove the battery by disconnecting its wires, unbolting it, and removing it from the tray. youll see where the ground wire is bolted to the car. remove that nut. take another piece of wire ( 4 gauge or larger) with a ring terminal, sand down the stock bolt location down to the bare metal (only in the contact area) and bolt that new wire in using the stock bolt. put the battery back and hook up the new ground to the battery. make sure that all other wires that went to ground still go there, you just replaced one ground wire.

that should help. you might not even need that cap ...but i guess its ok to leave in there.

i fitted the larger optima red top battery in and then put a new ground on with 4 guage wire, seems to be ok.

isn't there one more wire that most people do, too? the ground for the engine maybe?

There is a ground that goes from the battery to the transmission but it is in a tight spot. I couldn't get to it with the tools I had.

i think its the ground for the altrernator...i didnt mess with that one considering everything works well in my electrical system as it is. id onl mess with that if my voltage was still dropping.
