Well I'm from Michigan but more in the Pontiac area which is about a 2 hour hike from KZoo. I wanted to let you know that those dates you are planning to be in MI there is the Woodward Dream Cruise going on in the Detroit area. Woodward Ave is a classic street here in the Detroit area (don't worry, you definitly won't get shot) were all the classic cars and todays muscle cars cruise and race and such. The event is on one of those weekends (not sure which weekend) but it would definitly be worth it for you to try to talk to people you are visiting into going. It's one HUGE party with great cars and about a million people! So if you're into hot rods, come on down! :burnout:

That's a great idea Kim, we should try to get a meet together for that! The Dreamcruise is always a good time!...and no, you won't be shot. Detroit rocks! :D

As for Kalamazoo...it might be a possibility.

Bjornboy81 - we can go to the cruise and drink Guinness! :toast:

I'm trying to set something up with a bunch of my friends and you are MORE than welcome to join us! I love meeting new people and the more people the bigger the party. I'll remember to post something up about where we'll be stationed at and whoever can join is welcome. :)

Bjornboy81 - I'm really new to the whole Grand Am car club scene so I was wondering if you were planning to race your Grand Am? I know there are a slew of people who race their Trans Ams and Camaros on the other web forum I post on but I've never seen anyone race a Grand Am! Hey - maybe I'll do that on my next trip out to Milan. I definitly want to fill out the "Best ET" Colomn to the left <------

I might take it out to the strip once or twice this year. I've never raced before (off road that is). I know at the Albany meet a bunch of GA's race.

The thing is, this car is decent, but it would take too much money to make it respectable at a track, and I'd rather put that money toward my masters degree, or a house. I'm just doing little things to it to make it a little quicker.

BTW, "Paul" is easier to type than Bjornboy81 :D

Don't worry I wasn't typing your SN I'm just a big fan of cut and paste. ;) It's wierd that the names are put on here...most of the time you never know anyones realy name until you meet them...and then when you go to events you are all still referring to each other as your screen name - wild!

I hadn't thought about autocrossing a grand am before. I wonder how it would handle. I've had the trans am out there but I think front wheel drive in an autocross event would be a good thing to try. At least you would know the limits of your car.

What are you getting your master in? I know what you mean about trying to save money for a house and such. It is quite a toss up when you want to start modding your car. Houses are horribly expensive especially in Oakland county where I am.

Yep sorry about holding the thread hostage! No harm no foul. :D

Galesburg, MI is right outside Kalamazoo...it's a suburb I think.

Mapquest is our friend! :P

Ok, ok ok I'll jump in here :)

Actually those dates sound pretty good, but I definately will be at the dream cruise for the weekend. You guys should stop by the GM tent :)

We do need to have a get together soon as well. I suppose I could do it at my house again. Or at least use it as a meeting place.

This summer has been insanely busy for me. I have my weekends planned through mid-september, with I believe 1 available for R&R. The rest has been consumed by work.

BTW: Grand Am's do end up autocrossing well believe it or not. With a set of H&R springs, and KYB struts and sway bars, you're right there. There was a guy by the name of Chad that was around the GA community that was from the Milan area. He autocrossed his ALL the time and won many many races with it.

As far as going to the strip, it really depends on the day. Sometimes these cars run really really well. Other times it seems as though you could get out and run faster. But if anyone is interested in going to Milan on a wednesday night for test and tune, let me know and I'll get GM to sponsor us for the night.

I'm going to Mid-Michigan Motorplex on Sept. 2nd if anyone wants to meet up there. Its only 15 bucks for the public to run your car as many times as you want. I havent taken my car to the track yet, so I just want to see how she runs.
