Hi,
I am trying to find a intake kit that can take the harsh driving conditions that we have to deal with. Do you guys know of any? I just don't think that any of the ones I am finding will stand up to these conditions, and keep the engine safe.
All information is good information.
Thanks guys.
Dan

:welcome: to the club!!

The stage 3 intake from Dr. Speed is great and I don't think anyone here has had a problem with it. Even in crazy rain, I've never (knock on wood) had a problem with even the filter getting wet let alone water lock. As far as durability, it comes with a K&N filter that has a million mile warrenty.

There is a by-pass valve thing that you can buy to help prevent any water that you might suck up from getting into the engine.

Here's some links for you...

yeah. hey man. we're effed. you have to make it yourself. and id take it off for winter too. my neighbor has one on his probe but the cai comes off for winter, but if you made yours right you could feasably turn it into a WAI

i could, if i wasnt such a newb at all this stuff. i really suck ass...i wanna find someone to teach me "the ways of the automobile," I know the basics, but I want to be able to work on them, and be able to have mine run the way I want without spending everything I earn on it. About my car, guess I'll just put a K&N filter in it :( I lose.
Thanks though,
Dan

thats about how i feel. they do have DIY for making cai's on the internet. look around. i dont like the cheap cai's though. if i had a cai i'd want it the right way. an intake, that goes to a box with a cone filter. you know?

i have seen a cai for our car on the internet. $170, but i dont havethe site anymore :(

Y would the CAI intake have to come off in the winter?

Some take it off, some don't. It's up to you. If you drive through alot of snow and slush I'd take it off. If most of the roads you drive on are plowed then it's ok.

BTW, David, Where in Detroit do you live? :)
