I was thinking about putting in the new sony deck CDX-F7715X and was wondering if this would sound ok with the stock speakers? Would I be using the power of the stock amp or the deck? I am not sure about sound from the stock speakers I always see how thing are when the speakers are changed out. I am sorry if this has been answered before but I have been searching for hours and only find that it is possible to run it through the stock speakers. Is it a better idea to replace the speakers in the car? Also does anyone know if the stock speakers went from the 4x6 to the 6.5 or 5.25 in the 2003 gts?

I don't recommend Sony car audio, ever... For that much, you can get a nice, more powerful Alpine HU with MP3 playback. And, you'll notice a... I guess the best way to describe it is "loss of quality sound" from your speakers after you put a new HU in. It's weird, because you think that an aftermarket HU would make them sound better, but I dunno... It's hard to explain unless you actually do it and hear it for yourself. So, to answer you question, yes, get a nice set of aftermarket 5.25" or 6.5" speakers (you should get a nice set of components) and then amp them. If you're not planning on running a sub setup ever, then look into upgrading your rear 6x9" speakers, too. Those are what you should use for your bass. Make sure to amp them all and you'll have one nice quality sounding setup.
And, for your last question, no. They are still 4x6" speakers in your '03.
Corey I think since he already has the unit, shoudl just leave it with answering his questions
As for the question, yes you should notice a difference just replacing the HU, but definitely will notice a bigger difference by changing out the speakers as well.
My Rear's were already replaced with some 3 way pioneer 6x9's
I replaced the stock 4x 6's up front with 6.5 inch 3 ways SONY ones (they were free so i am not complaining) and then amped all four speakers off a Pioneer 4 channel amp, HUGE improvement over the stock setup.

And besides, I have owned both a Kenwood and Sony unit, and the sony blows everything away by far. I love their DSO. Make the sound fill the car better.
Anyway, to answer the question, the sound will be light-years ahead of the stock deck but to get the best sound you will want to get some aftermarket speakers too.

And I have owned a Sony, an Eclipse, a Kenwood Excelon, and 2 different Alpine HU's, and the Alpine blows all those away by lightyears... My sony, along with 3 of my friends HU's, caused nothing but bullshit problems that sony ran ALL OF US around with.

This is just my .02 but I think sony HUs are great. My friend has one and I just ordered my own last night, and looking at stats alone Sony seems to be great.
23 watts rms/52 watts peak x 4
120 s/n ratio
FM sensitivity of 9
and the model I ordered is MP3 capable and has aux. imputs as well.
We'll have to see how it is after I install it but I don't think I'll be disappointed. Then again, I wouldn't touch one of Sony's Xplod subwoofers with a 6 foot pole......
