Well I always had them then today i went to throw away a newpaper that has been on the back seat for 3weeks, and saw a sh!t load of ants. So i ran into the house and got the Rainbow and vacuumed most of them out. Alot were in the center consul. I don't have anything sweet in the car, what can i do to stop this.

... funny you mentioned this as I had one walking across the dash of the Blazer yesterday ... I thought "that is strange" as I don't remember ever seeing an ant in one of my cars before

Well, when we get ants in the house we spray all around the foundation, so I guess you could coat your tires with ant spray so they can't climb up there.:D

Don't leave anything in the car food wise.

Their wasn't any food or drink, just a back seat full of random paper, wires, and other items.

Sometimes I notice if I leave my windows even cracked some bugs get in.

I like keeping air flowing through the car, so I just vacuum regularly :D.

I would just spray the rug lightly with some bug spray then maybe put an air fresener in there so it doesnt smell like bug spray

If you spray in there make sure you have plenty of fresh air flowing inside.

I find that a good haze of Axe works well on a hot sunny day.

I've had this happen also. It's not food related, it's the way ants are. The move in groups like that. The best thing is to let it run its course, as hard as that may be. In a week they'll realize that there is no food and no loose soil to dig in and move out of the car. If you use poison you'll just end up with sections of dead ants and the rest will walk wherever the poison isn't. If you must get them out then use those bait boxes. Put them under the car (on the outside). Also poison in a hot car can turn lethal on you when you open the door and destroy the interier. Remember, it gets to 120 in that car when the windows are up so any chemical you use will literally bake into the fabric and materials..

Hi friends... I always get a few of them that will somehow find a tiny crack by the patio sliding door. I call them "little patio ants"; very common here.
The very best thing I have ever used is a product called Combat. I get mine at either WalMart, or Home Depot. They are small, white plastic bait stations filled with a poison. Believe me... you put those out and the ants will find it in no time. They will carry tiny bits of the poison (thinking they found a great food source) to the entire nest.... the whole colony feasts on it, and you will see no more ants in about three days; that is just about guaranteed. That Combat is remarkable stuff...
If you look for it, it comes in a gold colored box; and there are about 12 individual bait trays inside the box. You simply put the trays where you saw the most ant activity.... they will find that bait; believe me.
You should see no more ants in a few days, as the ants will carry bits of that poison to the nest; so give it a few days.
Note : The trays are sealed where children or pets cannot get to the chemical. The tiny openings are small enough for the ants, but no pets will be able to get to that chemical. Those little bait trays are sealed and safe....

Try that and see how it works; I'll bet you post back and say the ants have vanished in no time!
Oh, also... male sure you buy the ant ones... not the other ones for other pests... you want the gold color box for ants...

Good luck; hope it works well for you...
(gee, Combat should give me a commission, methinks!!!) (no, I do not work for Combat, neither..lol...)

Take care everyone,
Tommy

wierd...this last summer i had teh same ant problem. they always appeared on my backseat, like under books or whatever was back there. when nothing is in the back seat i see one or two runnign around. one day i pulled the back seat up thinking id see a colony...nothing. so now i dont drive the car and thus i dont see ants, but i think they moved on. when i get in the car i dont even see the few stragglers that i used to see.

i found a colony of those carpenter ants in my old 94 one time. those ants bite u HARD!!!....what happened was i had spilled some soda in the console and forgot about it. i jsut cleaned it up as best i could...but i didnt find out if they ever came back cuz i sold the car :D

LOL ! Maybe the new owner soon discovered the pesky things....
That sugary syrup in the soda will surely attract them too. I accidentally spilled some very sweet hummingbird liquid on my patio... oh man, the had a feast on it until I put some of that Combat out for them to dine on. In about three or four days, no more ants. They are now resting in peace, along with my Olds Cutlass that just crapped out (timing gears all broke).

Hey Will. Here is another idea to try. Go out and buy some Raid Fumigator (http://www.killsbugsdead.com/fop_fum.asp) foggers and use them in the car. Unlike regular aerosol foggers, the Fumigator produces a dry smoke. It leaves no residue and being a smoke, it will get inside the vents, ducting, and places aerosols would never reach. I have used them for home use and they work great.

Good morning, Joe.. LOL !! I know it; I should "copy & paste " that on Combat's website.... maybe they would send me some complimentary coupons, lol...
I never endorse a product like that, but the darn stuff works so well, I thought it might be helpful to the guy that has ants in his car.
Take care Joe,
Tommy

Well I don't see any more ants since i went crazy with the rainbow. One or two here and their, but nothing major. So the best way I figure out to get rid of ants is to vaccum their out. I don't to worry about them getting out since my vacume runs off water. :)

Cool ! That's one way to get rid of them... blast 'em with water in the ole vacuum.
Glad you got them under control; those little buggers can be a nuisance for sure...
