ok i have dual 40 series flowmasters w/ 2.5" pipes to the resonator....it sounds awsome....i wouldnt mind going louder...what should i do? should i remove the resonator and just replace it w/ 2.5" pipe to cat....and just leave it there....or should i also get a performance cat with the resonator removed? or should i just remove both resonator and cat and put 2.5" pipe..??? give me ur thoughts and how you think it will sound

Get 2.5" from the manifold back with a high flow cat and no resonator. DO NOT remove both cat and resonator and keep 2.5", unless you are planning on getting forced induction

agreed, backpressure is a necessity

how do you guys think it will sound like that? exactly where is the manifold? what is inforced induction? sorry there are some things that i just have no idea what its about..and now is the time to ask and learn...thanks

Forced induction is adding boost, whether it be with a supercharger or turbo.

Is it the Delta Flow or regular 40 series? If its the Delta Flow it will be loud but not too bad, the regular will be louder, esp. interior. The collector of the manifold is located right where the pipe comes down from the engine and forced induction is any kind of intake system that "pushes" air into the intake manifold, ie. turbo, supercharger, N2O. I refer to it most of the time as FI on the boards

Wow thanks for explaining that better than I did MJ. Plus I didn't know nitrous was considered FI.

actually if you didnt beat me to the punch then I would have left it at that

ok, so im removing resonator and putting a high flow cat.....and from the high flow cat to the exhaust there will be 2.5" pipes....right? this is whats best? also would i feel any kind of perofrmance gain by doing this?

I have a couple of questions concerning this subject. I have a Naxos muffler on my car (it's straight through) and I am going to be redoing the exhaust piping to the muffler with a hi-flow cat and 2.25 piping. Anyway, here are my questions: Does removing the resinator make the exhaust alot louder?, would it be too loud with a straight through muffler? and does removing it make any difference performance wise?

Removing the resonator isnt that much of a change actually. Dont get me wrong it will get louder but I dont think as loud as some think. Performance wise you may gain 1 or 2 hp

Ok I have heard many things. I need to know which size is better, 2.25 or 2.5. which would yeild the best horsepower. I have a striaght muffler and i am removing the resonator.

Just wantin to know which would be better!

Thanks
