Today I think I had the last straw with the Camaro, it broke down again! So I am considering getting a new second vehicle. I found a 2002 Chevy Impala, that used to be a Military Police vehicle just down the road from me that is for sale. They are asking $4,950 for the car. It has 110,000 miles on it, which I know is pretty high, but it has the Series 2 3800 in it, so at that point the engine is just getting broken in. No leaks, belts look good, car runs smooth, A/C works awesome (important in 108* weather). The exterior had some scratches, but no dents or any major body work would be required. Do you guys and gals think this is a good deal? I looked it up on KBB and NADA and with the mileage it is worth about $6500. Would you buy this car if you had the chance? Do you think this is a good deal?

Personally I don't like the Impala so I'd have to say no.

I don't like Impala's either. How about a 99+ GA GT? I see you have owned a Grand Am before. Plus our cars are pretty cheap nowadays.

Dont listen to them. I have driven a ass load of Impalas, one thing about them is there power, and if its a police package car, its gonna be real fast. You can tint out the windows, get some nice rimms lower it and get a nice body kit with performance struts and springs, get an intake, and you will **** shit up.
I say get it. Impalasa re nice rides man, Ladies love them too.

Don't listen to us? The person asked for opinions and we provided them. How are Impala police cars faster? I thought they just had heavy duty tranny?

Personally I love the newer Impala's, I would definately be ALL over that deal. Those cars look badass, and are a lot faster than a GA with that 3800 and heavy duty tranny.

I believe Impala fleet vehicles have more than just HD trannys. The cooling system and alternator are HD also. Suspension is beefier too. It would be a good car to mod if that's what you want to do. Otherwise, I'd get a GA... better looks and better mileage.

... there is a local Police Impalla that I wouldn't go up against ... I haven't personally looked close at it but I have seen it pull away from a set of lights a couple times and I can tell you one thing, that thing hauls some serious butt!!!

Impalas are nice looking cars. Never actually driven one so I can't give you any good advice. That milage wouldn't be my first choice, especially for that price but I can imagine how quick that car must be.

first off, this is a second car. we have them at my work and i drive them all the time. its not the fastest car out there, nor does it get the best gas mileage. It is a comfortable daily driver that will last you a long time as long as you maintain it.
As far as getting a GA, um no. GAs are not reliable in high miles and they are nowhere near as comfortable as the impala.

Thanks for the advice everyone, but I have decided not to get the Impala. The more I thought about it the less I liked it. Don't want electrical issues again or problems a few months down the road because of the mileage. I am actually looking at another car, but I am not going to spill the beans on it yet. I MIGHT have pics on Sunday, or Monday. We will have to wait and see. ;)
