How many tailights did you all go through to successfully take it apart without cracking the lense? First of all I pulled out the gasket around it and it got ripped easily. Next, the lense got cracked when I used a paint scraper to separate the 2 halves.

I see the housing inside is chrome. Do they ever peel off? Anyone have issues with fogging or leaking after resealing it? Looks like our tailights are glued pretty damn hard from the factory.

i did it once cracked each lense 3x, not toooo bad, lol. The left one leaks alittle like when i wash it and it gets sprayed righ on the crack. It drys out fast tho living in FL ya know. But i used 2 pocket knives and slowly took them apart, then would get all hyped up and go faster, thats when i would crack it. :( But looks good. i only cleared the blinkers then tinted the whole thing. and put an amber light for the blinker.

O just to make sure, the tint on the blinker is uneven on purpose, i dunno why but i wanted it that way. everyone brings it up so i thought i would share.

I cracked mine also, so i bought an extra one at the Albany meet. I'm looking for some kind of solution to soak it in to make it easier to get it apart.

Nice pics. What kinda amber bulbs did you use after clearing it?

My front directionals are Sylvania Silverstar. They look blueish but turn amber when used. I like them alot. Sorry for the random pics of my car.

I think I cracked one twice and the other 3 times... I completely cleared the whole thing, sanded out the chrome on the inside, painted it all black with a lot of metal flake gloss.... To take care of the leaking factor, I seperated where it cracked as much as possible without cracking it more, and filled it with crazy glue. That pretty much kept the moisture out, but to be on the safe side, I put a little bit of silicone on the inside of it as well... Then I have the rockblocker.com tint on the outside to cover up all but 1 of the cracks.

When you pry it to separate the 2 halves, do you actually break something inside? Or do you just break the dried glue?

Anyone here try putting them in the oven first?

I repainted the inside of my truck's turn signals and I placed the entire housing in the oven for 8 minutes at 250 degrees then used two screw drivers to seperate the lense from the housing. Came apart pretty easy.
