I bought this little cheapo Coleman, it was only 14.95. It worked good at putting wax and polish on, not so hot taking it off though. It has this foam pad that was on the front, but when I took my last bonnet off, the pad seperated from the disc. Is this bad? If it's not a good thing, I'll take it back and get a slightly better one now that I know I like having one.

That foam looks so thin and flimsy that you would push too hard and the buffer would be grinding on it... Does it have a backing plate? You can't see much from the picture.

Admittedly this is a cheap buffer, but I thought I'd try it out. Yeah, the backing plate is some kind of dense styrofoam or something similiar. It's kind of soft, firmer then the foam though. Here's a better picture of the side.

Don't waste your time with cheapo units. If you liked the results, go for a porter cable 7424.
You won't be disappointed.

That thing looks great! But I found it for 119.99!!! That'll have to wait. Can't afford that right now. But I definitly like it! :D

Yeah, alittle steep with buffer, pads, polishes and waxes, I spent alittle over $350 dollars.

I haev the exact same buffer as you.
I was PISSED when I noticed the glue coming off the buffer pad when I removed the bonnets. Mine hasn't fallen off yet, Im just really careful.
It puts wax on well, and doesn't take it off very well. Best thing I can suggest is when you take it off, go over it roughly, and get some off, then take a microfiber towel cloth and finish up the rest. Great results.

That's exactly what I thought too. It didn't take anything off worth a damn. I went over it by hand to give it the complete look. I really like that Porter Cable, but daaaamn $$$.

Buffers' are nice, but I'd never spend more than 30 on one, just because I'm cheap.
I may get cheap results, but that didn't stop the little 85 year old lady who saw me park as she was getting out her car from waiting for me to get out of the store to ask me what kind of car I had, and if they still have any 2005's left. My GA is an 00. It was the most flattering thing anyone cuold've said to me.

ya, those cheap things are junk. they wont remove anything. pretty much just good for applying sealants of wax ahah.
the 7336 is another option, just a different counterweight. you can also go w/ a rotary if youd like, but i dont like them, nor do i need a rotary.
