I know shipping is expensive. If we get more than 10 people comitting (say 20). I will talk to FX about decreasing shipping to the US and Canada

I might be down with a 96-98 hood. But I refuse to pay as much for shipping as I am for the product..

I'm sorry but for that kind of money, I don't have it.
$300 for the hood? OK. But an additional $200 shipping, I think not.

I will email the company again about shipping, they might do a deal if we can get 15-20 people, then the shipping price can go down

Why is shipping so damn much, yeesh!

I think the reason the price is high for shipping is because it has to come over into the US from Canada and there might be some other influences on the price, cuz I know within the US you can have that stuff(body kits,etc...) shipped for like 150
oh and its a pin on hood only,it doesn't bolt to the factory hinges, just to let ya guys know, says on their site

10-17-2005, 08:46 PM
then why does the 1st pic show no pins?
ManktheTank19
10-17-2005, 09:26 PM
Because he made fit his stock hinges for the hood
FiFdYnUtZ
10-19-2005, 08:24 AM
so they can be made to fit the stock hinges then? that would be nice

They haven't made one yet for the 99 and up. They just recently created one for the 96-98

imo, they need to make more selections available for us 98ish types. I ADORE the SD hood those spoiled 99+ers have access to :P

THIS IS NOT A HOOD. It is basicly a very large hood scoop that you attach to your stock hood (that is why its called a "pin on hood" you pin it onto your stock hood)

Cipher Don't be too bummed out that they don't have a SD hood for your car. I had one on my car up until I hit a deer that is and there nothing but a pain in the a**. The driverside heat extractor is blocked off by the ram air ductwork under the hood therefor water just pools in the hood eveytime it rains. Pluss to make it worce the people that live in state that gets snow and ice storms have that crap freezing into that same spot on the hood . iIt looks nice but I have seen better, in fact the one I want for my car is the Warbird hood. They look hella sweet on cars that have body kits on them.

THIS IS A HOOD! It is basically a fiberglassed hood that can't/can be attached to your factory hinges if you reinforce the hood. The hood is very light. As you can see in the pic on the first page, the hood (92-95 edition) does not have any hood pins because he hooked it up to his factory hinges. Then the second hood (96-98) has hood pins because he decided not to take the extra time to make it look factory.
Next time could you please look at the pics more carefully before providing false information
BTW: Why would someone make their hood be held down with hood pins when it comes attach with hinges (factory) Doesn't make sense lol!!! When you mold a hood scoop into a hood, you take the hood off, cut holes into your factory hood, mold the hood scoop into the hood then paint, and finally hook it back back to your factory hinges!
The only reason I am giving you attitude is because you give every member attitude when he/she is wrong. So now I do it to you!!!Do your research before you make yourself look stupid.

I never said anything about hood pins. i just explained the concept of a pin on hood. if you look at the picture i attached you will see that you only get the scoops part, like i said its basicly a hood scoop but larger.

Well after looking around i found some more pictures of the so called "hood"
Notice the area the guy is working around.
Like i stated twice already, its a "pin on hood" which means it needs to be attached to the stock hood.

See the funny thing is that your are still wrong. You need to look at pics more closely. Those hoods are the so called "warbird scoop"

If you look at the fx hood, the scoops go all the way down to the front of the hood. The "warbird scoop" does not go down the front of the hood, which pictures actually show.
So in the end, you are making yourself more stupid for trying to prove me wrong :)

Urweak, you are incorrect, it clearly states on the website:
"(Racing style lift off hood. Does not attach to factory hinges)"
Which means that the hood is pin on, and that this is not just a fiberglass part that you have to mold on the car.
The reason for the pictures you posted above were because the 96-98 hood just recently became available. After he molded it to his car.

ok, well after speaking with FX designs i understand now that this is just a hood skin. It has no under side like a normal stock hood. It needs to be held inplace with 4 hood pins like a race style hood. Years ago when the 92-95 hood came out my understanding was that the hood was just the scoop part. In any event this hood will not completely replace you stock hood like say the AED hood, andys auto sport hood, and JSP CF hood would.

heres the underside of a FX designs pin on hood. Granted its not the Grand am one, but you get the idea.
ManktheTank19

That is the only feature in my opinion is the draw back for that hood, but I am going to still get it in a few months, and I am going to try and hook it up to the factory hinges.
That feature makes it cheaper to aas, aed, and jsp (i think), due to that it doesn't hook up to factory hinges

I don't know if the"warbird scoop" goes all the way forward or not but I do know the FULL WARBIRD HOOD does go all the way to the front because I just bought one for my car. If I knew how to insert a darn pic I'de show you

Well actually its not a scoop its a full hood and a fully funtional hood at that.
US Exotics made it for me it's a Warbird hood and the gent that made it, said mine would be his last one. For a Grand am anyways he still makes hoods for other cars.

So they want that much for half a hood basically and you still have to either make fit to your hinges or install hood pins onto it!
Wow that hood looks like a POS to begin with, there are alot better scoop designs that can be used! NOT WORTH IT in my opinion!
Maybe if the hood wasnt as in your face and was an actual complete hood instead of a skin I would consider it but no chance how it is!

Do me a favor.....make your own damn hood then and stop resurrecting threads that have been created 2 years ago (appearence section) You shouldn't even speak because you dont have the hood like me :P . If you understand Pontiac history, they always had cars with large scoops (WS6). Plus you wont know if it was in your face since you dont have it. Maybe if you undertsnbad the meaning of the hood. The meaning of the hood is far 92 - 95 Grand AM's who have done extensive engine mods and will take it to the track. It is a fiberglass hood = less weight and with now metal frame = a lot more less weight. Of course you wouldn't undertsand that :roll2: . Before you make dumb ass comments, you should see it in person or stop bringing threads from the archives with immature comments.
I personally have the hood, I love it and i had it molded to the stock frame to make it look stock and smooth. Your choices are to buy this hood, fit the AED hood to your car, or buy the AAS hood. I would really liek you to make your own hood and be honest with the total cost and come back to me to prove me wrong ;) ............. I highly doubt you will prove me wrong.......I'm testing you
Your comment = :diespam:

Negative. Bringing up that the thread was from 2004 is nothing like what you did. I said that the thread was from 04 when he obviously didnt realize it. Not only that but I kept that topic in that thread. You jump on somones opinion when it differs from yours and bring up his mistakes from other topics. How would you like it if you said somthing I didnt agree with and brought up everything you have done wrong in the past?
