How come SUV's have darker factory rear tint and passenger cars don't?

I would think it is due to the square footage of glass used; such a large amount would make an SUV like a hothouse on the summertime.

those bastards, they get tint just for having a huge POS.... i hope they all burn in hell, stereotypical SUV drivers with the cell phone, too many kids for the capacity of the SUV, huge freaking rims, spinners, "i own the road" attitude. any of the above is reason enough for them to be sent straight to hell, or atleast to mexico so i dont have to drive near them.

Wow! Why don't you tell us how you really feel!?! My wife has an suv, an Escape, as a matter a fact & none of that applies to her. I have noticed alot of suv's w/ the rear tint myself. Never really thought of why that is. Coincedentally, her's has no factory tint but I may have her windows tinted sometime cuz I'm sure I'll end up with it sooner or later:roll2: You know how the old routine goes when your married, ya get the wife's hand me downs so SHE gets the new car. That's how I ended up stuck with this GA.

SUV's don't bother me that much. What I hate more are the trucks. Trucks with huge loud exhaust tips sticking to my windshield, driving like they own the road because they can see above anything. I used to live in IL, but living in a farm state right now helps finding more of those dumb trucks.

Now we know that it doesn't apply to 'all' SUV drivers, but it sure as hell does apply to most. Especailly female ones. I remember one time in specific being cut off by some woman in a Navigator while on my bike. The dumb bitch was on her phone and never even looked over her shoulder. I knew it was going to happen so I was keeping a eye on her (riding a bike you have to be aware of your suroundings). Many females driving SUVs can't handle driving a civic or corola let alone a 4500lbs truck loaded with screaming childern.

Then you have the guys who buy the largest SUV they can because they need to compensate for their lack of manliness other places. My wife knows a guy like that. He doesnt have a family, not even a girlfriend, but goes out and buys this brand new big bad Tahoe. He works a damn desk job and doesnt tow anything, and he kept bragging to her how it'll go anywhere in the snow, blah blah blah. Well Mikey, I have news for ya, my '86 Subaru Wagon would have whoop it's over priced arse in the snow. Either way the homo got rid about 4 months after prucahsing it for a Honda Accord. Must have been too much truck for him. But anyhow, like Mikey many people think they are immortal in a SUV in the winter and can drive twice as fast as anyone else in the snow. Hey dumbazzes, just because the 4WD gives you more traction from being stuck and easier to acclerate, it doesn't make it stop faster. All cars have 4 wheel braking, your not the only one. Not to mention, if you dont know how to drive properly, 4WD is actually easier to loose control in because it doesn't react to a counter steer, understeer, etc like a typical car would.

The problem is that the 'SUV" is the modern replacement for the minivan, which replaced good old station wagons. Bring back the Station wagon and maybe our roadways could become a bit safer for everyone.

Don't get me wrong I'd like to own a jacked up blacked out Tahoe with big azz pushbars, light bars and 34s under it. But I'd also be pulling a trailer with it and using it to plow in the winter time. Not targeted at you Joey, just my little rant with my hatred towrads the common SUV.

i dont need to 4 wheelover the snow, there is none, lol - i dont need to plow, still no snow - and there is no "off road" areas here that are rugged enoguh to need 4wd, or a huge suv. so i cant understand why (in the city) anyone would need an suv.

Unless they want to:
take up 2 parking spaces (i see this all the time)
be an ass
cart kids (get a wagon or something, shit!)
be more of an ass
roll on dubzzz G!

and thats alli can think of. they dont even get good gas mileage, how cant one think its a good idea to drive an SUV when gas prices are 2.50$ a gal?
Oh well, its not like I can stop millions of ignorant people from buying SUVs, hell my grandmother even owns one now (a 96 Ford Explorer Sport, one of the only 2-door, 5spd suv's ive ever seen) and she just carts large objects in there that she cant shove into her GA. I have to admit though, for all my bitching about SUVs, and my bitching about Fords, I drove that explorer, and loved it.Mind you this suv isnt freakishly huge, and its quick. And th clutch was like a feather. I put down so much rubber in that thing, it was great. My only complaint is the high cener of gravity, i cant throw it around 25mph turns at 40+, I would tip over in an instant.

Hey, Cadillac is trying thier damndest, aren't they!?! (SRX) They can call it an SUV all they want, it's still a station wagon. A bit ugly imo but still a great car to drive & very handy.
My wife bought her little Escape for her business & didn't want the big bulkyness of my Dodge 3/4 ton extended top conversion van. Yes, I used to own a big bohemoth. But man was that thing decked out. I wish I could find a pic of it.
I'm not taking aim at anyone- just making a point. I've found I could stereotype alot of young bikers just as well as you guys are people in SUV's. & this is just an example. Darting around you like they own the road, zipping in & out of traffic. tearing by you at over 100mph to cut you off & get in front of you before thier lane ends. & I encountered one of the most annoying habbits yesterday- I was driving through our local lakefront park at the beach, going down the street when a couple of bikes pull out in front of me (They were by law supposed to wait because they had a STOPSIGN! DUH!)& the rest of the group just blow the stopsign. I almost hit them & verywell could have & it would have without a doubt been thier fault. They knew I was coming but I assume it was that ever so popular "you're not gonna seperate me from the pack" mentality that almost sent 4 of them to the hospital or the morgue. All 8 to 10 of them young men on rice rockets. I could stereotype all young men on rice rockets & say the most absolute rudest things in the world about them right? No, I'm not gonna, but I DO keep my eye on everyone of them I encounter. Why? because I simply don't trust most & error on the side of caution. I don't hate them, I just don't understand them, that's all. Besides if we hated all we didn't understand where would we be?
_ Just something to ponder.:)

I would like to have an suv or a big truck... but for one reason well 2, but I dont have a boat yet, so its just the one right now... to ram the hell out of the idiots that insist on riding your butt at night with their high beams on thinking your going to move just because they sit higher then you.... or like others have said, tail pipes louder then hell....

but i want to have a boat someday and i dont think the size boat i want to have will be easily towed with a grandam....

ahwell..... for the snow thing.... its funny. youll see the people on the news right after the first big snow "im glad I have this suv, made it right out of the driveway..." then you dont plow yours, get out on the main roads, and all you see in the ditches are suv's and trucks... and the occosional new driver.... i think i have sent one suv into the ditch break checking them when they were litteraly about 12 inchs off my rear bumper.... and i dont feel sorry for them either!

heh, 2wd vs 4wd = you can get twice as stuck with a 4wd :)

And I'm from a truck-driving family.
