Not sure if this came up

but are 3400 and 3100 headers interchangeable?

the reason I ask is this..

I have 2001 GT and I want to get a set of stock headers to port, they are extremely cheap like $20 per header at the salvage yards, however I cant ever find 3400 headers only the 3100, so I ask, if I got a set off a 3100 and ported them, would they bolt to the 3400 engine or are there modifications needed?

thanks

Carl

PS does anyone know how long an install would be and if there is a write up on it?

The 3400s have larger ports than 3100s so i would'nt recommend you use 3100 manifolds . Headers would be the best way to go and are one of the best bangs for the buck mods but could be a bit much $$ . If you'd rather port your own hold out for the 3400 manifolds , also look into extrude hone http://www.extrudehone.com/oem.html it does a great job porting and smoothing the ports .

Go to 60 Degree V6 (http://www.60degreev6.com/index.php?p=pages&pid=68) , They should have the Specs you are looking for.

you could use 2000+ 3100 exhaust manifolds, as they are the same port size, but they're probably just as hard to find as those for the 3400's.

you could always take off your own and port them if you don't mind the down time, or search through the for sale sections on this board, GAGT.com and alero boards for someone with a blown motor .

i'm with colin - for the trouble, i think you should just save up for headers since you're fortunate enough to have some in the aftermarket for your car. you'll see alot more gain from them than just porting out the logs that are on your car now.
