I am looking at some options I have right now. I am thinking about putting a supercharger in, and if I put that in with exhaust that will only give you around 220 Horsepower. If you do thoose two things what else can you do to improve the ecotec?
Also how much do you think it would cost to install the supercharger?

I recomend buying the Cobalt SS Motor. $3599 on ebay. Stock supercharged 220HP. RSM Supercharger=$5400, and then you need to put lower compression pistions and so on. Cheaper just 2 buy the SS motor that already has the lower compression pistions and then just upgrade that. Just my 2 cents.

If I bought the Cobalt motor, would I need to get new transmision?

How do you figure? If the LSJ goes for $3500 it would be much cheaper to purchase the aftermarket rods and pistons (as suggested in the build book) and make boost via turbo or large nitrous shot. The RSM supercharger is not the only method of boost.

The Getrag 5-speed will withstand alot... not sure about the auto. Both will physically bolt up to the engine tho.
Again, I'd suggest reading that GM race build book. Just about everything you'll need to know is in there.

My short term plan is a GM SC and a header. Going from 140 to 220 HP is huge. Major bucks to go much more than that. Remember, reliable, fast, cheap. Pick two.

Your right Matt95GT, that would be cheaper to turbo or nitrous, but he was talking about supercharging. Thats why i recomended the Cobalt SS motor. Supercharging is probably the most expensive.

Agreed... in terms of swapping in a complete LSJ at this point in time, then yes supercharging would be the most expensive option. I know he specified supercharging specifically, and although I usually try not to make off-topic suggestions I figured it would be worthwhile to back up a bit and mention the other options for buildup + poweradders on the Ecotec.
Actually there is quite a few routes to take... in addition to what was mentioned already, there's always building up the 2.2 Ecotec with the 2.0 LSJ parts and using the GM S/C. Also, I know a supercharger "kit" for the N/A 2.2 Ecotec was supposed to be released from GM... not sure where that stands. Although I'm obviously a fan of supercharging, I personally think best power and value can currently be found with this combo:
2.2 + aftermarket internals + turbo. There is alot of power to be had from that combo, and rather easily... I'd love to have an Ecotec for that reason.

I would like to turbo it instead of adding a supercharger, but I do not know where to find a turbo for it. I assumed the only thing you could do to the ecotec was either turbo charging it or adding nitrus. Also what aftermarket internals do you suggest?

Did you read the build guide? Everything you need to know about internals are in there.

Oh it finally worked thanks! Wow there is so much information there it is very nice. I am happy I finally know I can get a good turbocharger from Hahn RaceCraft. Reading all that, really puts alot of faith back in GM. I think I want to sell my Grand Am, and buy one with the manual transmission. I can't wait to start doing some serious modding! Start off with the 62mm Throttle Body and intake from RSM, add a nice exhaust to it. Then go for Adjustable Cam Gear, and a High Rev pully. Then save up for either the nitrus, or turbocharger. Also get any of the internals that I need so the engine doesn't blow up. Thanks for all the help, this pretty much answers all of my questions.
