Well mom wants her car back so i jump into the grand am and turn on the a/c on and all i hear is a/c compress kicking on so I'm like damn-it. Only speed that works is 5. So this afternoon i go to the local Pontiac dealership that i don't like. Pay $28 for the resistor and then proceed to change it in the dealership parking lot. I got some weird looks but nobody told me to stop. /
end rant

lol....that's it! I was expecting some long story of how you threw your back out changing it and had to be rushed to the hospital...or somthing like that!

Oh, well...glad it didn't happen. How the change go...simple and easy?

for the most part, I had to take the fan motor out to get at the other bolt. and the new resistor is bigger.

I dunno what its like on the 99+ GA's but I had to change one at the dealership about a couple weeks ago on a new Bonneville(04-05 model) and lemme tell ya,no easy way of getting it out.

One bolt is easy to get to if you are flexable (I am) With the one in the back you have to bend into a veryvery weird position. If you have a little borther or sister let them do it.

Ya, I did mine about a month ago, and it's insane how it's jammed back there. I bought a really small rachet to get in there with, and it took like 20 min because it would only rachet one click at a time! I noticed that the new one is bigger, at first I thought they gave me the wrong one, but looking at the paths on it, you can tell it's pretty much the same, just bigger.

Where is it located? In the switch?

behind the blower motor under the dash on the pass. side.

yeah, changed mine about a year ago. What a PITA! If you're smart, you'll only use one screw when putting it back. Save yourself some backache if you ever have to replace it again. Thats what I did...

i changed mine about 2.5 years ago. mine didnt seem bigger, but the board was insulated. i used two u-joint adaptors and it worked pretty good. i forget how long it took but i then did my womans car a month later and i did it in like 3 minutes cus i knew exactly what i was doing.

^helps when you have the right parts! I was fudging it with random tools...wasn't happening...then I broke down and got the small rachet.

Just buy the ratchet...then return it. :)
