General N-Body meet at the CA Motor Speedway Saturday, Sept. 24, 2005. $20 car/driver, $10 spectator. Track opens at noon so my plan was to meet up around 10:30-11AM in Fontana to get together and roll in as a group.

I did a lot of thinking tonight at work about the meeting place. I think the best place to meet would be at a park! We can all meet up there and maybe eat and hang out for a few, then we all get in our cars and head over to California Speedway!

Sound like a good idea?

I'll just have to scout out a park and let you guys know which park and directions there!

The earlier the better. Tech takes awhile depending on how many cars are waiting. Considering that it's a Saturday I would expect it to be pretty full.

Thanks for taking the initative, Stephen. Most likely there will be anywhere from 5-20 cars so make sure there's enough room for all of us.

To all you Grand Am Owners Club members coming to the Street Legals at the California Speedway in Fontana, CA on September 24, 2005, here are the directions to Dr. Charles A. Koehler Park that we will be meeting at first.
Everyone has to bring there own food and drink to the meeting.

The gates at California Speedway open at 12:00PM.

You may want to write these directions down or print them.

If you are coming from the 10 Fwy heading East, you're going to exit Cherry.
You're going to turn Left onto Cherry (and yes, you will be driving right past California Speedway on your left side) until you reach Baseline.
You're going to turn Right onto Baseline.
Turn Left on Beech.
You will see the park on your right side. You can't miss it unless your blind!

If you're coming from the 10 Fwy heading West, you're going to exit Citrus.
Turn Right onto Citrus.
Turn Left onto Baseline.
Turn Right onto Beech.
The park will be on your right side.

For those taking the 15 Fwy, all you have to do is exit Baseline no matter which direction you're coming from and head East on Baseline.
Turn Left onto Beech and you're there!
You too will see that park on your right side.

Now, the only thing left is to agree on a meeting time. So, start posting away and I hope to see you all there!

11AM sounds about right. Kick it for a bit, shoot the shit and then head over around 1-2PM. Tech in and let the engines cool off and we should be able to get some runs in right when they start.

Thanks for all the info, Stephen! I'll actually be out there that Friday night at my friends later in the evening so you might see me driving about.

Now, back to the track rulings. You guys need to have your batteries secured and no loose stuff rolling around in the car or trunk. Wear pants as rules say that shorts arent allowed and I dont know how strict they are about it. If you guys want to run w/o a spare tire then take it out before you get there; none of us want to babysit a donut!!! Lastly, it's best to run on about 1/4 tank for weight savings...see if you can plan your trip accordingly so you have just enough.

Oh- and clean your air filters!

Anyway, yeah, you should be able to find that park if you follow the directions. There is another Fwy called the 210 I believe. But that Fwy is still under construction and ends on Citrus. So if you're coming from L.A. I wouldn't take that Fwy.

If you do take it anyway, just exit Beech and turn Right. Word of warning though, the exit is on the left side of the Fwy in the carpool lane, so if I was you, I would wait until the last minute to get in that lane to exit if you're alone so you won't get ticketed!

I did drive by the park the other day again to make sure it was big enough and I'm going to stop there sometime this week and look around better. It's a good size park! :)

I know this has nothing to do with the subject of this post, but I have drum breaks in the rear and I was wondering if they could be converted to disk breaks.

Yes they can. You just need the rear disc setup from a GT and it'll swap right in. One of the members that will be there has already done this swap so you can ask him that day. This is still on my to do list.

hmmm i have a BIG problem, well i redid my brakes this past weekend because i am retarded and didn't put the pads on the right side of the discs in the front. DUHHH, and well i bought a new caliper cause the guy at the shop assumed that i had put the pads on right, well i also bought new pads, did it all up nice and perfect this time. Yesterday i was getting off of the freeway doin about 70 MPH, and my brakes were completely out. i got my car home luckily with no accidents, got it all taken apart and well the caliper they sold me was screwed, the banjo bolt that goes into the caliper had somehow stripped all the threads inside the caliper causing all my brake fluid to be pissed out the passenger side.

Its all fixed now but i don't have money to make it. sorry guys it looks like im out, damn the first meet up here that i can't make crap thsi sucks.
