I see a lot of them on the road in Ohio so I am guessing they sell well.

Anyone here have one yet?

On the east coast they are only found on the dealer lots... I've only seen one on the road in my travels so far.

I have seen a few of them. If I would have been able to afford the payments I would have probably gotten one instead of the 2003 Cavalier I bought 3 weeks ago. Its a nice little car. I loved the interior. Funny thing is when I first saw pics of it I thought it was hideous. It looks much better in person. :D

The same could be said about the Charger. With a lot of cars, it seems pictures just don't them justice.

ive seen em around, and i agree that they are trying to jump on the pT cruiser bandwagon. they should have at least offered a V6 model with power. whats with this retro cars wit 4 bangers? who wants that?

on a side note, they are better than the alternative sometimes.

Theyre all over the place here. Nicer than the PT in my opinion.

With Gas prices the way they are, everyone is gonna want a 4 banger.

yea, I have a 4 cylinder and I need to use premium... $3.00 a gallon and the Vibey sits, good mileage or not.

On topic, I have seen the HHR's around and personally I dont like the boxy look like that in any kind of car, it reminds me of a delivery truck, much like the Scion. I half expect the milkman to jump out with a couple bottles. I still like the Cruiser better, expesially in convertible. My father in law has a GT and it's nice looking.

GM cars dont cominate Chicago so they haven't been all over the road here.

THe PT cruiser is disgusting, wood paneling on a blue car, thats ****ed up, seriosuly, the PT cruiser is a pathetic, ugly, car and should be killed imeidetly, but the HHR looks alright, kinda like a sion on steroids or somthing

I agree. Next door to where I work, they have an orange one. That company does write up tests for car magazines. It's real cool!

The same guy who designed the looks of the PT also designed the looks of the HHR. Hence the "piss poor copy". How anyone feels about having the same guy do a very similiar car is up for debate though.

On topic, we've seen quite a few running around here. Lady down the road works for a dealer or something and she had one for a weekend. I personally like them. More masculine then the PT Cruiser with it's brawny fenders and bulges. I wouldn't mind having one and doing some cool work to it. :)

I'm ready to trade my Aveo for a Dark Silver Metallic LT HHR. :D

BTW the HHR was never designed to compete with the PT. It was based on the 40's Suburban and SSR. :)

When I went upto Niagara Falls a two weeks ago I saw a handful of them, I didn't even know that they were producing them, so it was kind of a suprise to see them.

That's what GM would like to say about it. That it's just a celebration of it's heritage... which it is in it's own way. But the size and fact that it's based off the Cobalt platform, as the PT is based off the Neon platform, put them head to head pretty much, as does the 4 cylinder powertrains. Both being retrostyled and "classic" looking seals the deal.

Yup I already knew that. Besides the delta platform is a universal platform. GM has to use something. :)

Besides, I know some inside GM people. :D

That still says nothing, to be honest. Saying they had to use some platform... alright... If it's inspired by the old Suburbans and the SSR, both of which have body on frame construction, then shouldn't this?(No, GM didn't want another truck, they wanted something smaller and cute to attract people, much like the PT did 5 years ago) And whether any "insider" (I like these insider things, since everyone has them anymore, Hell, I do too then, haha) admits it or not, this vehicle goes right up against the PT from the very start. The moment GM hired the person who did the exterior design for the PT this car was destined to go head on with it. Then you build it off a small econocar platform, since you have to use something afterall, and then throw in roughly the same engine packages (minus the PT's turbo option, since GM isn't that fun yet) coupled to the front wheels (again different then the Suburbans and the SSR). Then you factor in the neat little tricks for storage and cargo arrangements, which are nearly identical to the PT. Oh, and it's priced just around a PT. So then you might still be thinking this isn't supposed to compete with the PT... but pick up every major auto magazine and see how Chevy mentions it's got slightly more cargo room then a PT, and that it's got a touch longer wheelbase then a PT, and this and that about a PT. And next, the magazine runs out and gets a PT to stack the HHR up against.

Whether GM even believes it at its core or not isn't the question anymore... it's still customers that will determine what it competes against, and there's only 1 other thing out there that seems like it's in it's class.

*End rant*

All that being said, I'd take one, in a heartbeat. I think their a nice looking car with many possibilities. It's got a harder look to it then the lady like PT, and with a box full of Ecotec upgrades, it could be rather fun. :) Too bad the wrong wheels drive it.

I've already talked to my gf about buying one and lowering it... but not that far. All black with big chrome rims would be cool. :) Now if I could get the back wheels to make it scoot...

So far that left coast gangsta chopshop AKA Westcoast Customs did up a HHR. Also I see that a HHR was built to run the salt flat at Bonniville shooting for a 220+mph pass.
